Lenny thought she found a 'kind, self-reflective, super empathetic,' unless he proved her wrong

Sometimes, the person we think we know best can turn out to be someone completely different. Lenny (@ellennharris), a woman from Sydney, found herself in a similar web of deceit. Her ex-boyfriend was the perfect definition of a partner until he wasn't. In May 2025, when a co-worker joined his team, Lenny got a hunch that something was wrong. Her instincts proved correct after she stumbled upon a set of photos that his co-worker had posted on the Beli App. In a 4-part TikTok video series, starting August 12, 2026, she elaborated on how everything about this man was smoke and mirrors and how her desire for love caused her to get inadvertently dragged into his deceptive promises.

Lenny met her ex, whom she calls Detroit man, on a Greek island in June 2023, then reconnected in December when he messaged about visiting Sydney. After spending a week together, they started dating. They would travel across South America, Asia, and Europe to see each other. Lenny found him “kind, self-reflective, super empathetic,” who sent her flowers, showered her with compliments, and randomly sent her money to have lunches.
As time went by, events only fueled her suspicions, one after the other. In May 2025, a new co-worker joined her boyfriend's company, and she noticed that he started going on more work dinners, sometimes multiple times a week. She tracked down his co-worker’s profile on the Beli App and found photos of the two of them eating in nice restaurants. As she had suspected, the two of them had been going alone, rather than the whole work team.

He excused the photos by saying that other colleagues had bailed out of the dinners, so the two of them had to go alone. He even offered to cut contact with his co-worker and reassured Lenny that their relationship was well and good. On Christmas, he handed her an Ultra Miami ticket for a festival in March 2026. But after she checked messages and call logs on his phone, it became clear that she was not the only one who received it.

Lenny's ex was trying his best to keep her hooked with a nice birthday party in Bali in June was followed by a cousin’s wedding in July and then a Great Lakes trip. He promised her that within two years, they would get married in Italy. Then one day, all her pipe dreams came crashing down in one moment. While she was living with him, he came home from work with dozens of love marks on his arm. He gave excuses and dismissed the matter. But that night, while she was doomscrolling on TikTok, a video about infidelity caught her attention and made her suspicious.

Lenny found that all the messages and call logs with the co-worker in his phone were gone. She confronted him, and again, he played dumb. Then the other day, she got what she had been looking for: screen recordings of the deleted message threads, the call history, the photos of him and his co-worker having dinners, the voice notes. His co-worker herself sent Lenny all this data. Turned out she, too, had found out that the man was living a double life. The messages unleashed a cunning plot that the man had designed to fool both women. After she untangled every lie he had fabricated, she obviously decided to break up with him.

The story seems like the plot of a movie but sadly, it is not uncommon. Superdrug Online Doctor surveyed 2,000 Americans and Europeans and found that up to 60% of people cheat at some point during their relationship. Around 60% to 68% admitted to having only one side affair, while 32% to 40% said they were involved in more regular affairs. A staggering 71% confessed that they had cheated and said they would take it back if they could.

Lenny’s 4-part series unlocked different speculations and perspectives among viewers about men, women, dating, and committed relationships. @jcpiano3 said, “I honestly think men can compartmentalise so easily. It’s crazy how many are capable of living double/triple lives with no guilt.” @shhucy commented, “You know what’s crazy is that she knew about you but didn’t come forward until she didn’t get picked.”
