Her purple toothbrush kept mysteriously disappearing from boyfriend's bathroom. Then she realized what the pink and green ones meant

Sometimes people think they found the one, only to later recognize the warning signs that were clearly visible all along. This is exactly what happened with Cora Shircel (@corashircel), who met a man through a dating app and was left amazed by his chivalry. But two months after dating him, only then did she realize that he was up to something, after her toothbrush kept getting replaced from the counter. This prompted her to dig further and find out the shocking truth, which she shared on Instagram on May 22, 2026, garnering over 300,000 views.

The post-trip hangout plan

The incident began when, after a couple of months of dating, Shircel's boyfriend went on a business trip to San Francisco. Throughout the trip, he was connected with her. He would always FaceTime her, text her, and even send pictures of his trip. Naturally, this gave Shircel assurance that he was not doing anything suspicious. But that changed when he returned home, as he went silent for a full day. He then invited her over for what seemed like a casual dinner. Not thinking much of it, Shircel also enjoyed the leftover pizzas and called it a night.

The toothbrush swapping scheme

A week later, Shircel headed to his house after a date because they came back late at night. So, she went into the bathroom to brush her teeth before sleeping. However, to her surprise, her purple toothbrush was missing from the counter. After she asked her boyfriend about it, he casually claimed, "I was just tidying up the other day, so I put it under there." On the surface, this felt like a genuine answer, but Shircel had a feeling something was off. Instead of overthinking, she decided to ask the man whether he was seeing other people. But he refused right away.

He then assured Shircel that he'd deleted Hinge and was only seeing her. At this point, she began to think that she was worrying for no reason at all. Even more so, after this, the man continued to communicate with her, make plans, and even send her flowers. It wasn't until then that the man's other girlfriend spotted a leftover takeout box with Shircel's full name on it, and his double life began to unravel. As it turns out, the man was switching toothbrushes based on the woman he was inviting over that day. The purple toothbrush was Shircel's, and the pink was his girlfriend's. But the worst part was that there was a green one as well, apart from his own blue toothbrush.

Woman reaches out for help

Nonetheless, after this discovery, the man's girlfriend found Shircel through a mutual acquaintance and messaged her directly. In no time, the two understood how the man had been lying to them. But what left them stunned was the sheer similarities in the way the man treated them both. Not only did he make both use each other's skincare products, claiming that they were "things his sister gave to him to give her as a gift," but he also recycled messages word-for-word. In fact, he even took both of them to the same spots, claiming that "he had never been there before."

Moreover, he duplicated the entire day-trip itinerary to Chinatown, and even logged into his other girlfriend's Disney+ account in front of Shircel. Also, he constantly had deja vu moments, which in reality were just consequences of him scripting both relationships the same. Nonetheless, this entire incident sheds light on a broader issue within the U.S.A. Even though a staggering 90% of Americans believe cheating on their partner is morally wrong, according to Pew Research, the reality is otherwise. That is because 57% of women and 44% of men believe that cheating has become extremely common.

It's just baffling

That being said, the people were left stunned by Shircel's story. @sarah_french_xo commented, "SMH *screaming internally* Manifesting the best man for you!!!" Meanwhile, @mairaaxo detailed, "I dated a guy who let me take him to Bavette's to celebrate his birthday. Come to find out he had gone a few days before with another girl and the whole time acted as if he had never been there. We even sat at the same table. He then gave me a gift certificate to a spa for my birthday, and she had taken him there recently."
