Heroic service rep stands up to homophobic customer who called to rant about Pride month

People are praising the TikToker for sticking up for the LGBTQ+ community and refusing to let a customer berate her for no valid reason.

As Pride Month comes to a close, a TikTok video of a service representative shutting down a homophobic caller's rant is going viral on social media. A series of videos posted by TikTok user @acutallynothx, known as Hannah, shows her speaking to a woman who made a call simply to complain about the fact that the company Hannah works for had "posted about #PrideMonth on social media." From their conversation, it is evident that the unnamed customer was more interested in simply yelling at a representative than resolving their so-called "issue."

The first of the two videos—posted last week—begins with Hannah already telling the customer: "Ma'am, it seems like you don't want to have a discussion, it seems like you want to yell at somebody. If you're going to keep yelling, and you don't wanna have a back-and-forth discussion, I'm just going to hang up." The caller, however, continues to talk over Hannah with a bizarre hypothetical situation involving someone daring her child and her child getting drunk on something that's been drugged by someone putting something in their drink. Presumably, this hypothetical situation is an analogy to imply that the LGBTQ+ "agenda" is being forced on children.

When Hannah, understandably confused about what the woman's talking about, points out that "people putting stuff in your children's drink has nothing to do with Pride Month," the caller pivots to complain about how "Hollywood" is attempting to "glorify this culture"—referring to LGBTQ+ people—and how the company Hannah works for "is wrong to glorify this culture." She also makes sure to explicitly state that she was "so offended" by it.

Hannah, however, politely reminds the caller that "people all around the world... have been glorifying straight culture for hundreds and hundreds of years." When the customer continues to yell at her about how "wrong" it all is and people allegedly "forcing this culture" on children, Hannah once again informs her that "if you would rather yell at me than have a conversation," she would hang up. The woman on the other end of the call apparently wasn't done with her rant and yells: "You are a disgusting human being!" Without skipping a beat, Hannah replies: "Okay, well I think you’re disgusting. Bye!"

With the video being viewed over 948k times on TikTok, Hannah obliged a follower's request and uploaded a part 2. The video shows what appears to be earlier in their "conversation" with Hannah trying to explain why the company would show Pride. "The reason you’re seeing quite a bit… is because it's Pride Month, and the visibility and openness is kind of what it's all about," she politely informs the caller. "Still," the customer objects, "I am disgusted with this society." Realizing that the woman's concern was more or less about the influence of Pride Month on her children, Hannah points out that she doesn't need to be worried as it is an "inappropriate culture."

"No, yes it is inappropriate! It is inappropriate culture!" the customer fires back, to which Hannah asks: "Why do you think it's inappropriate?" After momentarily scrambling for words, the caller admits what was clear along — she just doesn't like seeing people celebrate their identity. "It's approving that lifestyle, and that lifestyle is wrong," she claims.

"Well, we don't agree with that," Hannah responds, "and I personally, very strongly, disagree with that." Undeterred, the woman then brings up high rates of suicide among LGBTQ+ youth, claiming that this is due to the "exposing" of LGBTQ+ people in media. "Actually, most of those youths are committing suicide due to a lack of acceptance," Hannah quickly clarifies. "Noooo," the customer tries to rebut before Hannah says "yes" and the video ends.

People are now cheering Hannah for sticking up for the LGBTQ+ community while still doing her job and refusing to let a customer continuously berate her for no valid reason.
