In a world where hourglass figures and crystal-clear complexions mean everything, there are few chosen stars out there advocating reality and embracing themselves just as they are. The whole idea of beauty is being reinforced as being one’s strength just the way one is, thanks to celebrities and other people who can proudly stand in their own skin. Everyone’s favorite singer, Selena Gomez has been standing for the beauty of oneself the way they are and for mental health for quite some time. PEOPLE reported that she’s back at it again and there’s no stopping.

The singer who has received quite a backlash for her styling and body has leapt out of the same with her aura and is urging her fans and many others to stay true to who they are. Recently, the singer shared a couple of stories on her Instagram where she said loud and clear that she loves the way she has aged and changed over the years. Her first story consisted of her in a bikini from an earlier date. She wrote, “Today I realized I will never look like this again…” This was followed up with a recent image of the singer in a bathing suit with the caption, “I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… Sometimes I forget it’s okay to be me.”

While just her story is enough to speak volumes, Gomez is on a personal mission to eradicate body shaming and strengthen others to love the way they are, flaws and imperfections included. As the founder of the Rare Beauty brand, she has stuck with her principles of loving oneself and being comfortable in one’s own skin. While the brand itself aims to enhance one’s natural beauty and bring out the best of oneself, as the founder, Gomez is clearly building up on the same with her views. In an Instagram video for the brand, Gomez added more for a boost of encouragement for all those feeling uneasy about themselves.

She said, “Something I wish I could tell my younger self is: Appreciate the face and the body that you have. May not look like everyone else, but you are who you are, and be proud of that.” Even then, the singer has been body-shamed and called out for her appearance several times. The backlash doesn’t stop but neither does Selena Gomez. In a recent Instagram post, the singer shared a picture of herself and an eloquent caption. She wrote, “I’ve always believed self-comfort is feeling good in your own skin. It’s the tiny moments of comfort that go a long way—and look different for each of us.”

Continuing to explain that her entire collection too is related to what she stands for, Gomez wrote, “To me, being rare is about being comfortable with who you are. It’s about accepting yourself. Loving yourself. Being there for yourself so you can be there for the ones you love.” Selena Gomez is clear that how she looks is imperfectly perfect for her and who she is as a person will always matter more. @selenatorslatinas poured their hearts out saying, “Feeling good and comfortable with yourself becomes difficult sometimes, the fact that you are aware of that and empathize with all of us makes me very happy.”
