A hearing-impaired couple from Idaho, known for their selfless service, was stunned when Secret Santa arrived with gifts that changed their lives forever.
Every year, Secret Santa comes to the rescue of those in desperate need of help, bringing a smile to their faces. This generous tradition, aimed at keeping the festive spirit alive, often ends up restoring hope in humanity. The same happened with a deaf couple from Idaho after they lost their jobs and were struggling to make ends meet. As part of the early Christmas surprise, Nate Eaton from East Idaho News—who goes by @Eastidnews on YouTube—along with some kind elves, decided to drop by Kent and Marlene’s place with some heartwarming cheer and, yes, with gifts too.
The video showed the elderly couple warmly welcoming unexpected guests to their home. The journalist was joined by special helpers David, Lindsay, Megan and Amy to assist Secret Santa in carrying out their mission for the good Samaritans. Some anonymous individuals wanted to thank the couple for their selfless service to a 97-year-old deaf woman. “They never complain about their situation, and Secret Santa wants to thank them and bless them with some gifts this holiday season,” remarked Eaton.
Amy helped the visitors interpret and speak to the couple in sign language. Kent answered the door when Eaton knocked, finding another man there. They exchanged humble greetings and wished each other a Merry Christmas before getting down to business. “We’re here because an anonymous Secret Santa asked us to come and visit you. We wanted to bring you a gift,” the East Idaho News journalist said, with the help of an interpreter. At that moment, Marlene entered, looking anxious after seeing the cameras outside her home. She signed, “I look terrible.”
It prompted Eaton to immediately compliment Marlene, trying to put her at ease. He then began unveiling the gifts sent to the elderly couple by Secret Santa. The beautifully wrapped box contained $1,000 worth of gas cards and $2,000 worth of grocery cards for use at Fred Meyer. The couple, who had been facing personal challenges, were being recognized for their dedication to serving the local community. They had been helping a 97-year-old deaf woman by cleaning her home every Monday and ensuring she lived in a safe environment. “This act of kindness is just one example of their unwavering commitment to helping others even when they have so little themselves,” Eaton added.
Following this, Eaton announced there was another surprise for the couple, revealing a gift box he had kept inside his jacket. When Kent and Marlene opened it, they were stunned to find a check worth $1 million, signed and ready for them. Both struggled to believe the incredible gift from Secret Santa. Their positive attitude towards life, despite the challenges they faced, earned them admiration on social media. Their touching interaction with Eaton garnered over 113K views, 10K likes and countless reactions. @AngelaSmith-nw4on remarked, “I can vouch for how much these Secret Santa surprises change the recipients' lives.” “I'm a three-time combat veteran, and I cried for this beautiful couple,” @timlol4374 commented. “As soon as Kent came to the door, you could tell what a loving man he is,” @VioletJoy lauded.
