When Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School principal Brianna Lanoye was planning her wedding, she wished to invite all of her school kids to her big day. While her plan was not feasible, the staff at the school pulled a surprise on October 3 that moved her to tears.

Brianna Lanoye has been loved by all her school kids. Lanoye, who is the founding principal, always wished for a wedding that involved her entire school community. However, she thought it was "near impossible" to do that. "My assistant principal didn't think that was impossible," Lanoye said. Days before Brianna Lanoye and her fiancé Zach's actual wedding, assistant principal Courtney Champlin decided to pull a make-shift "school wedding" on the school grounds with the help of current and former students, along with the staff.

According to ABC News, on October 3, she was told by Champlin that they were going to attend another school function. But to her surprise, Champlin pulled out a veil, informing her that she was going to have a school wedding. The principal was seen walking out of the room to the grounds wearing a white attire, as she was surprised by all of her school kids at the school grounds. "When I was taken to the grounds and saw all the students gathered there, I was blown away," the principal recalled. The students recalled seeing their principal "all smiles." "She was smiling," one student said, while another said, "It was like her wish came true."

Lanoye walked down the aisle to her fiancé, Zach, who was waiting for her at the altar. "Just having him there as well, as a part of our school community, it was really beautiful, and I couldn't believe that he was part of it as well," said Lanoye. The couple, in white outfits, stood in front of more than 400 students who were cheering for them. The ceremony was officiated by the kids, who shared their thoughts about love. The students saw them exchange vows and candy ring pops. One student quipped, "She loves the kids more than her husband," and Brianna could not agree more. In fact, they made sure her fiancé knew who her 'first love' was. Speaking to CBS Evening News, she said, "I love my students more than anything. I just hope that our students feel loved too."

Interestingly, Lanoye and Zach later celebrated their planned wedding on the same school grounds. In a 2020 study, Ahmad Zayid studied the impact of school leadership on the learning climate. The researcher found that principals who actively engaged to frame positive goals, maintained open communication with teachers and parents, and promoted inclusivity fostered a more positive school environment. The findings highlighted that effective and compassionate leadership played an important role in improving the learning style in schools.
