Sarah Jessica Parker welcomed the newest addition to her family, Lotus, in April this year. She broke the news by sharing adorable snaps of the feline on social media.
Sarah Jessica Parker has decided to blur the lines between fiction and real life with the latest addition to her family. In an Instagram post, Parker introduced Lotus, her adopted cat to her fans. The cat looked familiar to many and they were not wrong. Lotus is the cat that plays her fictional pet, Shoe, in Parker's popular show "And Just Like That..." It is evident from Parker's smile in the photos she shared that she is very happy to have the privilege of Lotus' company.
Parker began her caption by writing, "His off-camera name is Lotus. He and his siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by the @cthumanesociety." The actress revealed that Lotus was officially adopted into her family in April 2023. He joins two other pet cats, Rémy and Smila, who joined the family in May 2022. She ended the caption by confirming everyone's suspicion that the cat has been seen by many of them before. "If he looks familiar, that's because he is," Parker wrote. The Instagram post featured some adorable snaps of the kitten. In one of them, the actress is seen holding him close to her nose while in another picture in the carousel, he shows off his nonchalant self as he lays on a table.
Connecticut Humane Society on Facebook also wrote about Lotus and his adventures on the set of "And Just Like That..." The post read: "Did you see his adorable debut? And #spoileralert, Lotus liked the spotlight so much, he's decided to stay on the show!" In Lotus's first appearance on the show, he was brought into Carrie's home by Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramírez). He was introduced as Shoe, who soon made Bradshaw's home his own.

Everyone on the set appears to have been captivated by Lotus' performance. One of the writers in the show, Evan Ross Katz, posted stills featuring Parker and Lotus on Instagram, writing: "High-key my favorite character on Season 2 of AJLT: Shoe Bradshaw." Parker appeared to second this opinion in her own post with a comment that read: "You weren't wrong @evanrosskatz. X, SJ."

Just because Parker and Lotus are now a family does not mean Bradshaw and Shoe's shenanigans will stop. The show has been renewed for a third season before the airing of the Season 2 finale, with Parker expected to return. According to PEOPLE, executive producer Michael Patrick King said in the press release: "We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors." The Season 2 finale not only had an adorable appearance from Lotus but also a notable cameo appearance by Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.
Parker's decision to adopt the feline is being welcomed by adoption supporters who want to raise awareness amongst people to go to shelters when they seek to bring pets into their homes rather than shops. According to the National Kitten Coalition, 41% of kittens that enter the shelter are eventually euthanized because of not being able to find homes. Therefore, such stories provide a lot of hope for such kittens, as people getting inspired by them might be encouraged to adopt kittens in need of forever homes.
