In a fierce indictment of Donald Trump and his yes-men, one of them no doubt her own father, Caroline Giuliani implored Americans to vote for Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Rudy Giuliani, United States President Donald Trump's personal attorney, is also part of his inner circle. While the lawyer may be a big fan of the sitting President, his daughter Caroline Giuliani could not disagree more. In a fierce indictment of Trump's incompetence as a leader, Giuliani urged voters to stand with her in the fight to end his "reign of terror" during the upcoming Presidential elections, CNN reports. In an opinion piece for Vanity Fair, she shared her own journey in politics and the issues she cares about most, including climate justice, universal health care, student debt relief, and prison and police reform.

"Trump and his enablers have used his presidency to stoke the injustice that already permeated our society, taking it to dramatically new, Bond-villain heights," Giuliani, a filmmaker in the LGBTQ+ community, wrote. "I hope you’ll believe me when I say that another Trump term (a term, itself, that makes me cringe) will irrevocably harm the LGBTQ+ community, among many others... Women, immigrants, people with disabilities, and people of color are all also under attack by Trump’s inhumane policies." She listed a host of threats to personal freedoms that have become law as a direct result of Trump's actions: asking the Supreme Court to let businesses fire people for being gay or trans; pushing a regulation to let health care providers refuse services to people who are LGTBQ+; and banning trans people from serving their country in the military.

While LGTBQ+ issues are close to her heart, the filmmaker also highlighted the President's mishandling of the ongoing public health crisis. She stated, "Faced with preventable deaths during a pandemic that Trump downplayed and ignored, rhetoric that has fed deep-seated, systemic racism, and chaos in the White House, it’s no surprise that so many Americans feel as hopeless and overwhelmed as I did growing up." It is this sense of hopelessness she wished to combat through her powerful op-ed. Giuliani warned against removing ourselves from the fight as concerned citizens and illustrated the dangers of doing so. She explained, "If being the daughter of a polarizing mayor who became the President’s personal bulldog has taught me anything, it is that corruption starts with 'yes-men' and women, the cronies who create an echo chamber of lies and subservience to maintain their proximity to power. We’ve seen this ad nauseam with Trump and his cadre of high-level sycophants (the ones who weren’t convicted, anyway)."
It is not ok to say people aren't dying of COVID anymore when they are. Stop the gaslighting. @RudyGiuliani @realDonaldTrump

It is in this regard that she officially endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. "I know what is at stake, and Joe Biden will be everyone’s President if elected," she wrote. "If you are planning to cast a symbolic vote or abstain from voting altogether, please reconsider. It is more important than ever to avoid complacency. This election is far from over, and if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that anything can happen." Giuliani urged everyone to engage in the country's democracy to "meet this critical moment." "If I, after decades of despair over politics, can," she stated, "I know you can too."
“We’ve come to such a point of crisis that I had no choice but to say something.”
