Robert Downey Jr. is giving away six 'dream cars' from his personal collection to lucky fans

Robert Downey Jr. is known as a generous fellow in the film industry. Now, he is extending his generosity by organizing a surprise giveaway from his prized automobile collection. The 58-year-old "Oppenheimer" star is giving his fans an opportunity to own some cars out of his elaborate collection, according to an announcement made by himself on his Instagram stories. "In case you haven't heard yet, I'm giving away some of my cars," the actor wrote in one of his stories.

The "Iron Man" actor can be sitting on one of his six classic cars in the Instagram stories. All of these vehicles—which include a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1966 Buick Riviera, a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE, a 1972 Chevrolet K10 Pickup, a 1972 VW Bus and a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino—have been eco-modified. In a follow-up story, Downey Jr. further explained, "No purchase or donation is required to enter and it will not increase chances of winning the cars in the giveaway."

The giveaway is only open to the USA, UK and Canada, excluding Quebec, to legal residents over 18. The extravagant giveaway is sponsored by the Edward Charles Foundation, which possibly is a dream event for the actor's fans and automobile enthusiasts. "You can be one of the six winners, each receiving one of these beauties that we converted to drive to a pollution-free future. Enter for your chance to win one of the RDJ Dream Cars and experience the future of automotive technology," a note on the RDJ Dream Cars website read.

According to PEOPLE, the actor is stars in a reality series called "Downey's Dream Cars" where he along with a team of experts, restored six of his classic cars from his own collection to make them more eco-friendly. In an interview with the outlet, Downey Jr. also revealed which car he would pick for his dream "car chase" sequence.

"The '66 Buick Riviera, I drove that thing around New York and it was taking the potholes and the things. A big burly formidable vehicle, and because it's painted that kind of creamsicle peach, it would also throw off whoever was chasing me. And also, it has an acclimate sensor," the actor responded. "So I would drive into the areas that had the worst pollution, and maybe I could lose them down by South Street Sea Port or something."

When HBO Max dropped the trailer of his new reality TV series, fans were delighted to spot his 11-year-old son Exton making a brief appearance in it as well. The dad and son duo can be seen eating their lunch together and Downey Jr. starts to use the food items on the table to demonstrate how he works on his cars. As the actor continues to flaunt his expertise with cars, Exton turns to the camera and quips, "Are we sure he is the right guy to be hosting this show?" Well, we can only figure that out by watching the reality show, released on June 22, 2023, and we can stay tuned to see some lucky people win one of these cars from Downey Jr's precious collection.
