Although the signboard is mostly a joke in line with ongoing events, the coffee shop, as promised, gave Martin a free coffee

On February 17, Ricky Martin visited a coffee shop in Miami without expecting any special treatment, but taking a few steps inside left him flabbergasted. Well, Martin spotted a special sign for "people who sip for free" and was overwhelmed to find his name on it. Amused, he pulled out his cell phone to take a selfie video alongside the sign. Meanwhile, the baristas stood still, unable to believe that Martin had actually walked into their coffee shop, days after performing with Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl halftime show. Sip 305 (@sip.305), the eatery, shared the heartfelt video on its Instagram page.
Martin zoomed in on his name on the signboard among other celebrities like Pedro Pascal, Bad Bunny, Drake Maye, Sam Darnold, Lady Gaga, and Green Day. "Aye, qué casualidad. Besos y abrazos. Look at this. Look! Look," the artist said, meaning, "What a coincidence — hugs and kisses." Martin then moved the camera to capture Nacosi Rosemond, the coffee shop employee, who was shocked to see the "Nobody wants to be lonely" artist at the café.
Although Manager Tiffany Nguyen confirmed that the signboard is mostly a joke that features celebrities in line with ongoing events, Martin, as promised, was given a free coffee. "It has relevant celebrities and every couple of months, we change it, and we also put one of our Instagram followers on there so that way an actual customer comes in, gets to see their name on the board, and gets to feel like a celebrity," Nguyen told TODAY.com.
Interestingly, Rosemond said Martin was the first ever celebrity featured on the board to visit their coffee shop. Moreover, she shared that the singer interacted with other customers, waiting for their orders. "He was super sweet and told them all about the Super Bowl halftime show, and they asked what his order was going to be. He said, of course, a mango smoothie," Rosemond recalled.
Cafés and restaurants maintain signboards with celebrity names to attract customers. It is part of their marketing strategy built on our fascination with celebrities. Interestingly, with the growth of social media platforms, more than celebrities, people are now more impacted by influencers' endorsements. For example, a survey by #paid of over 1,000 American adults found that people's obsession with celebs often influences their purchase decisions. The poll revealed that more than half (53%) of respondents said they are more likely to buy a product endorsed by an influencer, and 47% agreed that a celebrity endorsement would significantly impact their purchase decision.

Meanwhile, people online were equally shocked to see Martin walk into the coffee shop, offering him free coffee. For instance, @herminiojoel joked, "So, either he wrote his own name, or this was an afterthought because the writing and ink are different from the others."
@christopherroy272 wrote, "I genuinely would collapse and cry if I saw him in person. I wouldn't know how to act unfazed." Similarly, pointing at the barista's shocked expression, @jorgenicolasmv shared, "I would also stay like her, with an open mouth, unable to articulate a single word."
