'Literally left almost nothing for the children! Absolutely pathetic'
Halloween tends to bring out the spooks. But sometimes the real scare is just bad manners. That is exactly what Helena resident Taylor Wilson saw on her door camera after she set out a bowl of sweets on her porch. It was meant for neighborhood kids. However, instead of trick-or-treaters, she witnessed two grown adults wiping out the entire stash. Furious, she shared the clip on Facebook on November 1, 2026, and locals instantly spotted the Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill logo on the woman's shirt. This prompted the restaurant to look into the matter. Soon, they fired her after learning she not only took the candy but also lied about it.
The night started innocently as Wilson prepared a large tub of treats outside her Helena home. She wanted to welcome trick-or-treaters just like the rest of her community. But instead of cheerful children, her porch camera caught a couple of women stuffing handfuls of sweets straight into her basket. They left almost nothing behind for the neighborhood kids. Disgusted by the brazen theft, Wilson uploaded the footage to Facebook. "Greedy adults stole almost the entire bowl of candy! Literally left almost nothing for the children! Absolutely pathetic," she wrote in the caption.

Reviewing the clip closely, Wilson noticed a telling detail in one woman's clothing. The staffer wore a work shirt clearly bearing the Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill's logo in nearby Hoover. That is why she directly questioned the restaurant in her post. "Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill, is this one of your employees?" She asked. The direct callout quickly drew widespread attention to the business.
When confronted, however, the employee attempted to downplay the fallout to her managers. A restaurant representative initially stated that the staffer had returned the sweets, and she even offered a personal apology. But Wilson pushed back immediately on that story. She revealed that the second woman in the video had reached out to apologize. Once the business caught wind of this deception, they made a final decision.
Management clarified that while taking the candy was reprehensible, dishonesty sealed the employee's fate. "We basically told her that she can no longer be working with us anymore," the restaurant confirmed. Nonetheless, this incident highlights the prevalence of porch theft across the United States. According to a Safe Wise survey, 1 in 3 Americans has experienced some sort of porch theft. Of these people, 30% report only a single thing being taken away. However, a striking 75% reported multiple things being stolen from their property.

It's safe to say the people were furious over the actions of the employee. Amanda Sinn wrote, "My 9-year-old accidentally grabbed two stickers out of a bowl tonight, and, when he realized it, turned around and put one back. Some people have no shame." Meanwhile, Sharon Martin pointed out, "Trick or treating was meant for kids! How sad that adults 'steal' the fun from kids deserving to enjoy the fun of Halloween!"
