The man was playing his music in his car when the woman called out to him. He immediately thought she was about to complain.
Receiving complaints from a stranger in public can be unpleasant, especially when you haven’t done anything to warrant it. Similarly, a rapper playing music in his car was called out by a woman in the car next to him. At first, he thought she was about to complain. However, the real reason she called him left him surprised and reminded him not to "judge a book by its cover." The rapper, ASAP Preach—who goes by @asappreach on Instagram—took to the platform to share the incident.
"You said what?" the rapper asked the woman as he started filming her. "The beat that you have," the woman began. "What about it," Preach cut in. The woman then made a noise, "Boom, boom, boom," as he repeated his question. She had a serious expression when she made the comment about Preach's music, and he was momentarily offended. "So you are telling me how to play my music?" he asked. The woman calmly replied, "No, I love it." Preach was shocked by her response, having expected something entirely different. He then asked the woman if she liked what he was listening to.
"Yeah, so can you play it louder?" the woman asked. "Please." Preach immediately turned up the volume, and the woman began vibing to the music, hands up in the air, her head bobbing along to the beat. "Thank you," she mouthed before continuing to enjoy the song. The song was written by the rapper himself and called "Let it Ring." The caption to the post read, "I thought this lady was going to complain about the music! Turns out you can't judge a book by its cover!" His video went viral, garnering over 6 million views. People in the comments expressed their thoughts on the incident.
@vanpro79 wrote, "At first, I thought she was maybe intoxicated, but actually I think she wanted the louder beat because she's hard of hearing! She signed thank you at the end." @ari_mas_cas commented, "She might be slightly deaf or hard of hearing because she signed 'Thank you.' She also described the 'boom' vibrations of the beat. Turn it up so she can feel the music." @mrmillionaireinsight_ remarked, "Bro, this is the best video of the day on Instagram. I don’t care what nobody says. I did not expect that to go like this."
@witchintheglen shared, "She does the ASL sign for thank you—wondering if she has auditory limitations and that’s why she liked the beat so much? Not that she was drunk, just that she might be sort of deaf? Maybe. I also think we should all start using the ASL sign for thank you, so maybe she was just throwing it in." @coach_randi_8 expressed, "She’s hard of hearing. She signed thank you at the end. Hip and rap bass lines you can really feel. That community likes rap and hip hop for that reason."
