While it is crucial to maintain professionalism, some workplaces pose unreasonable dress code policies, especially during the summer. Such rules make employees look and feel miserable in full clothes. This one company's dress code policy seemed a bit more favorable to women than the men working there. Male employees who wanted to wear shorts during the hot days were warned against it, but one queer guy u/GeckokidThePaladin shared on Reddit how they found a hilarious loophole in the policies. When they showed up in unusual yet appropriate clothing, the management could not do anything about it.

The employee pointed out that their company generally had a casual dress code and wasn't expecting formal wear. However, there was a limit to casual dressing. The men weren't allowed to wear shorts even on hot days. "So in the UK, here we get about 5 hot days a year that we get to enjoy/endure. One of my colleagues got an HR email a while ago for wearing shorts in the office (he has great legs, who could blame him) when the weather was sweltering," the employee explained. What bothered the employee was how the women were allowed to wear comfortable skirts and dresses that didn't make them feel stuffy while men were expected not to show their legs.

Though the employee cheered for the women's freedom of dressing, they were totally annoyed by wearing jeans in 30-degree Celsius weather. The employee then came up with a hilariously brilliant plan. "I'm very proudly queer, but I have never worn a skirt before, but I bought some fabulous skirts and wore them twice to work since. Once just to a regular office day and then last Friday when we had a summer party," the individual said. Not only did this leave the management speechless, but the employee also managed to inspire other male workers.

"No one has spoken to me about my wardrobe choice yet, but my legs were so free. Some male colleagues told me they are inspired and we might see more skirts in the office when it gets warm again," they added. Also, they posted a couple of pictures on their Reddit profile showing off the cargo skirts they wore to work. Their story garnered huge attention on Reddit and many even suggested the employee get themselves a kilt. "Yes, I know kilts are a thing, but they're heavy and woolly and absolutely wouldn't be nice in the heat," the guy explained. Soon, they did update that they bought a utility kilt too.

"I work in the NHS and we have the same stupid rule. A bunch of us said if they won't allow shorts, we will wear skirts. Suddenly, all of our bosses said shorts are just fine," said u/Stage_Party. "It's getting more and more common to see guys pushing back against no-shorts rules by wearing skirts in the summer heat. I figure within a couple of years we will start to see trendy stores selling manly skirts in traditionally masculine colors and patterns, and then five years later they'll be in Walmart," quipped u/Alexis_J_M. "I am a firm believer that shorts should be allowed. I mean, there needs to be length rules/fabric rules. But there's no reason why men should be subjected to only wearing pants. Golf shorts and dress shorts are fine!" added u/lil1thatcould.
