Everyone develops dreams and aspirations throughout their lives. Unfortunately, many of these dreams remain unfulfilled as individuals get scared of others' judgments and opinions. But what exactly are these scary "opinions" that people are afraid of that they leave their purpose in life behind? Charlotte Grimmel–who goes by @themindfriend on Instagram–has an answer to this question. She argues these "opinions" manifest from our fears of failing to achieve our life goals.

Grimmel begins the video by sharing how knowing about this behavioral pattern in humans turned her life for the better. She states, "The way you fear other people will judge you is the way you are judging yourself." She goes on to explain that the people who feel overly concerned about other people's thoughts are the ones harboring those exact negative opinions about themselves in their minds. She suggests that every time a person feels overwhelmed thinking about what other people think, they should try to relate it to themselves. The psychology-based coach added, "How does that relate back to limiting beliefs you have about yourself or self-doubt? That is your work."

Grimmel shares that every human being is put on this earth to look after themselves and work on their well-being. She explains, "Your work isn't to impress everyone and to be liked by everyone. Your work is to get your own judgment out of the way so that you can do the thing that you are looking to do." If someone finds themselves doing it, it means they are going against their constitution. They are afraid of the negative manifestations they have constructed about their own being and need to step out of it. Individuals need to become more confident in themselves and their abilities.

Grimmel further mentions in her caption that, to live life to the best of their abilities, humans need to follow three rules. "People aren't paying attention to you as much as you think they are. They are far more concerned with themselves." Worrying about what others think is a waste of time. "Some people will always judge, no matter what you do. That has a lot more to do with them than it has to do with you. The sooner you accept that you will never be for everyone, the sooner you can live a life that's true to you," she adds.

The third rule is the most important. "The way you fear other people will judge you is often the way you judge yourself. Your thoughts are not their thoughts. They likely have an entirely different perspective of you (and you will NEVER be able to control it). What you can control is your own narrative." The negative opinions people think others have are more often than not manifestations they have about their own selves. To free themselves from these negative manifestations, it is vital to gain positive thoughts and affirmations. It is by becoming the master of their own story can people break this cycle of negativity.

The comments section was in agreement with Grimmel. @affirmway_blog wrote that people in doubt should approach the situation with self-love, "The best way to not worry about others' opinions of you is to love yourself. When you enjoy every part of your body, when you enjoy your feelings, when you accept your whole self - this is what makes you happy." @gabe.rosario23 appreciated the lesson and commented, "Such a fantastic observation! Often the fears we have are over exaggerations of what reality is! Meditation and self-examination are some of the most powerful tools we have when it comes to learning about how we limit ourselves subconsciously! Be more aware of your thoughts and you will become more aware of how you are holding yourself back."
