Far-right representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz got hounded out of their own press conference as they tried to make a case for Capitol insurrectionists. It was the first day of the House Select Committee's investigation into the failed insurrection on January 6. While Capitol and D.C. Metro police officers gave testimony about the deadly attack, far-right house representatives called for information on those who were detained for attacking the Capitol building. However, they couldn't go through with their press conference as a group of protesters blew whistles and held placards calling Gaetz a 'pedophile', causing them to leave the scene in a hurry.

Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz were accompanied by Louie Gohmert and Paul Gosar as they prepared to hold a press conference outside the Justice Department. As they prepared to address the media, a protester with a whistle kept drowning out the words, while other protesters with placards placed themselves behind the Republicans, in full view of the cameras. The placards criticized the representatives. One of them read, "Pedophiles for Trump," referring to the Justice Department’s ongoing investigation into whether Gaetz sex-trafficked a 17-year-old girl. While Gaetz has denied all charges, it's a tag that is being used to target him. Another placard read, “Traitors + Rapists Sit Down.”

“First of all, to the guy who’s blowing the whistle, we are not deterred,” said Greene as she took her position on the podium. They were deterred within seconds as protesters placed placards behind the podium and booed the group of representatives. The group of representatives moved away and were escorted along the sidewalk, away from the podium. One of the reporters repeatedly asked Gaetz if he was a pedophile as he tried to walk away from the scene, before leaving in a car. "Are you a pedophile, Congressman Gaetz? Are you a pedophile?" asked reporter Lauren Windsor.

Republican representative Liz Cheney, who was part of the bipartisan investigation that heard harrowing testimonies from police officers, slammed her fellow party members who gathered outside the Justice Department. Liz Cheney said the group and Republican leadership trying to distract from “what actually happened” in January. “The fact that they’ve gone from recognizing what happened on the 6th to protesting in front of the DOJ on behalf of those who are part of the insurrection … I think it’s a disgrace,” she said, reported The Hill.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is known for heckling and harassing people, certainly didn't like it when the tables turned on her. In 2019, she followed Parkland High School shooting survivor David Hogg in Washington, D.C., verbally harassing him about his support of gun control. Her earlier Facebooks comments alluded to her buying into the QAnon conspiracy theory that the Parkland shooting was a hoax but she later admitted that the shooting did take place.

She also has chased after Alexandria Ocasio Cortez in the House chamber. House Representative Cori Bush also accused Marjorie Taylor Greene of harassing her on social media and otherwise. “A maskless Marjorie Taylor Greene and her staff berated me in a hallway,” wrote Bush. “She targeted me and others on social media. I’m moving my office away from hers for my team’s safety.”

Matt Gaetz was labeled 'creepy' and a literal 'pedophile' by his fiancée’s sister on TikTok, reported Vice News. Roxanne Luckey, the younger sister of Gaetz’s fiancée Ginger Luckey, posted videos detailing the 'creepy' behavior of the Florida congressman. She posted a video of herself with a New York Times story about Gaetz’s alleged sex trafficking in the background. She captioned the video: “When a creepy old man tries to hit on you at the bar but your sisters engaged to a literal pedophile.” Luckey has since made her account private. Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene also unwittingly posed for pictures with prankster Walter Masterson, before he trolled them. Masterson sarcastically trolled them, telling Marjorie Taylor Greene, "Everybody thinks you're crazy. I don't think you're crazy," before turning to Gaetz, telling him, "People think you're a pedophile! I don't think you're a pedophile. I don't think you're a pedophile at all. The charges against him are totally false." You can watch Matt Gaetz's smile fade away in real-time.
