In a world where expenses pile up, the value of free, heartfelt words of appreciation cannot be overstated. Taking the time to say "thank you" or acknowledge someone's efforts can create ripples of positivity, strengthening connections and lifting spirits. Gratitude isn’t just about recognizing the good in others—it’s about building moments that matter.

This was beautifully exemplified when a mother shared her uplifting experience on Reddit. The user, u/TinyElderberryOfYore, posted about how a simple text from her father made a significant difference after she hosted Thanksgiving.

"Hosted Thanksgiving while pregnant and with a toddler and was worried how things would go, just got this text from my dad," her post read, followed by a screenshot of the messages she received from her father. In the message, her dad wrote, "Just wanted to say that you were an excellent host and everything you cooked was absolutely delicious, give yourself a thumbs up." In the second text, he added, "We both loved your potatoes, see they came out great."

Many took to the comment section to talk about the importance of appreciation. "It's nice to feel recognized for all your hard work. Good on your dad for knowing that," read one comment by u/Anticrepuscular_Ray. "Many people will boast their confidence when hearing this kind of praise which is always applicable to someone who tried their best to make you proud of them. Love this story," added u/FlutterGemTwinkle. "so sweet dad texts hit differently when they’re proud. You absolutely crushed it, and those potatoes clearly slayed," read a third comment by u/Throwaway1223985.

The world is dealing with a lot of problems and a bit of kindness can really go a long way. In another heartfelt example of what a simple note of appreciation can mean to people, a Reddit user named Vivica, who goes by u/southwesthex on the platform talked about the heartfelt appreciation note that a delivery person wrote in response to her generous tip.  "My name is xxxxx and I have been delivering with DoorDash since October due to job loss. I have delivered to your home many times, and I recognize your name, as it is uncommon. On Christmas Eve I decided to Dash to pay for a tank of gas. I got 3 orders that night, the final was yours. Your generous tip baffled me," the note read. In the note he also added how he "cried all the way home" and held his children very close that night. "I told them how important it is to be kind to others and generous when you can and that doing so could make somebody's day. I made sure they know to always show appreciation for others and I also mentioned your name, " the note read. "We are so very grateful for you and your kindness. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts," the delivery person added in the note. The post really touched many people's hearts and got over 129k upvotes.
