Every public space or gathering has people following certain dress codes at times. Take a gym for example. With the rise of controversies arising in the #gymtok community, some gyms have restricted their members from wearing certain styles of clothing while working out. Emi—who goes by @emiandandrew on TikTok—made a video to reveal that she got wrongfully dress-coded at the gym she goes to. Emi, who is also pregnant, claimed that she was told to leave the gym because of her outfit choice.

Despite being five months pregnant, Emi had not given up on her regular gym routine and she went to her usual workout sessions dressed in a pair of leggings and a tank top which she showed to her viewers. However, the mom-to-be did not anticipate the awkward and unpleasant encounter she was about to have at the gym. She explained in her video that the gym she uses is mostly for bodybuilders and most of the clients are men. Emi also mentioned that the gym displays a bunch of images of competitive bodybuilders on the wall while they are dressed in bikinis and briefs.

She shared that her gym's policy only bars people from wearing a sports bra while working out and it wasn't a problem for her because she was wearing a simple tank top. All of a sudden, the gym owner approached Emi. “My wife has an issue with what you’re wearing right now,” she recalled the gym owner telling her and insisted she put a top on. She tried to explain that it was not a sports bra but a tank top. She even pointed to other women at the gym who were wearing similar clothing but they were not getting bothered by the owner. Emi mentioned that the owner ultimately told her that "maybe she doesn't need a membership here" which was a clear indication that he wanted her to leave.

“I was trying to be respectful but it was honestly pretty offensive. I don’t know, I thought it was the craziest thing,” Emi concluded. Several TikTok users and gym enthusiasts jumped into the comment section to debate the issue and some even defended her. So far, the clip has received more than 3 million views. @logannn07 remarked: "This is the fifth video I've seen about this gym and every woman is gorgeous. That Wendy is jealous." @sdxlexi joked: "The wife didn’t have an issue with your outfit. She had an issue with you being unbelievably gorgeous." @dxf93 advised: "Cancel that membership and leave a review with your picture in the outfit attached. That lady needs therapy if she thinks that’s an issue."

@jaylynn.marie suggested: "The way I would’ve walked over to the wife and asked what the issue was especially if there were girls with less on." @amberlylane shared: "When I was pregnant, my emotions would've had me crying with that encounter. So sorry that happened." To this comment, Emi replied that "she almost cried when she was defending herself and she continued to keep pushing her tears off to defend herself and she was embarrassed." @marilynwithatwist commented: "Am I the only person that feels like they were discriminating against you because you were pregnant and working out?" @caitlinrlmt added: "Sounds like the owner's wife is insecure and trying to control the woman so her man doesn't stare."
