Most expecting mothers imagine nine months surrounded by love, reassurance, and a partner who shares every milestone. For one mother (@the.gentle.mile), however, that dream never materialized. Instead, she found herself covering her own clinic checkups while working weekends to save every penny for her unborn child. At the same time, her husband received a birthday cake from a female colleague he routinely video-called behind her back. When confronted, his reaction laid bare where his loyalties lay. She shared her story on TikTok on October 25, 2026, which racked up over 33,000 views.

@the.gentle.mile Day 83 I wish I had a happier pregnancy story to tell... I loved my baby from the very beginning, but those 9 months were some of the loneliest moments of my life. Looking back, I don't think I was strong. I simply had no choice but to keep going. And sometimes, I still wish someone had taken care of me too... even just a little ? I regret the marriage, but never, not for a single second, becoming a mum ? #singlemom #healing #pregnant #motherhood #divorce ♬ original sound - r o s e l ?

A painful discovery

The initial joy of a positive test vanished almost immediately when she uncovered her husband's intimate dynamic with a woman from a local bar. While she waited at home hoping for updates from him, he spent his nights on extended video calls with another woman instead of checking in on his pregnant wife. The betrayal grew deeper when he wiped their chat history to hide evidence. "It wouldn't look nice if someone saw them," he explained. All this, just for a surprise birthday cake to show up at their doorstep from the very same woman.

Business over family

Desperate for honesty, the woman urged her husband to address the situation directly in front of her. Rather than reassuring his wife, he pushed back defensively, saying, "What if she quits? Who will suffer?" His outright refusal to risk workplace tension made it obvious that managing operations mattered far more to him than repairing their broken marriage or easing her emotional turmoil. He left her completely without emotional support, which took a massive toll on her and turned into physical exhaustion, landing her in the emergency ward.

A second collapse

To make matters worse, during that time the woman's husband insisted he faced financial trouble, forcing her to shoulder every clinical expense herself. She even picked up a weekend side hustle just to make ends meet. Unfortunately, this grueling cycle of endless work, sleepless nights, and constant anxiety finally pushed her body past its limits. After collapsing once again, she was admitted to the hospital. In that ward, listening to the heartbreak of another mother who had just lost her child, she cradled her belly in tears and made a pact with her unborn child. "We will get through this together," she said.

@the.gentle.mile Day 61 I honestly didn’t expect people to stop, read my story, leave long comments, or share their own stories with me. When I went through depression, divorce, and one of the lowest points of my life, I felt damn alone. I’m not local. My family is overseas. There were times I felt like I had nobody I could really talk to. That’s actually one reason I started recording myself. Not because my life is 100% smooth, I'm still trying to figure the damn things out every single day ??? I’m just another mum rebuilding her life after 35, trying, getting scared, falling apart sometimes, and somehow getting up again. So if you’re starting over too, I just want you to know, there’s someone here doing it with you. We walk this damn mile together!! ?? #singlemom #HealingJourney #healing #momlife #motherhood ♬ original sound - The Gentle Mile ?

Finding unconditional strength

Reflecting on the experience, the woman admitted how deeply painful it was to endure meals alone and watch other women receive genuine care from attentive partners. "I wasn't strong...I was just left with no other choice but to be strong," she stated. Nonetheless, she isn't alone in feeling this way. According to a Baby Center report, 41% of mothers feel that they don't get enough support during their postpartum period. In fact, 65% mentally prepare themselves to care for the baby before leaving the hospital.

Additionally, research has repeatedly shown that low partner support can have a measurable mental-health impact during pregnancy. A study of two Boston-area pregnancy cohorts found that women reporting low partner support had about 1.8 to 1.9 times the odds of high pregnancy-related anxiety.

As for the people, they were impressed by this mother's resilience and extended their support to her as well. @sippingmycoffee wrote, "Your son is gonna look up to you; how strong his mummy is." Meanwhile, @ttttteeeevvne commented, "Sending hugs. You definitely don't deserve all that. I'm glad you stepped out of the toxicity and rebuilt your life. JIAYOU MAMA."
