Every child needs someone who would believe in them and their dreams. A little support can allow anyone to reach their full potential. A young boy found that support in a local police officer. The officer's kindness gave the boy a new reason to pursue something he was passionate about. Michael Pointer was at a detail at the Westwood Community Centre in Memphis when he met 10-year-old Kamarri Brooks. The boy was on his bike and chatted with the officer for quite a while before going his way as per the officer's Facebook post.

The next day the officer saw the boy at his house in his Lil Longhorns uniform, ready to go play football. Pointer was quite surprised by the fact that the boy was wearing a jersey at noon even though his practice was at 5:30 PM in the burning hot weather. He realized that the boy was quite passionate about the sport. “He said he had no cleats, but all his friends do,” the officer said sharing the context behind his kind gesture. The officer bought Nike cleats for the boy to encourage him to pursue football. He posted a photo and a video of the moment.

In the video, the boy could be seen running towards the officer as he called for him. The officer handed him a bag with black shoes and socks that the boy took and tried on. Pointer kept talking to the excited boy who happily tried on the cleats and mumbled a quiet "thank you" as he wore them. He even invited the officer to his game on Saturday who in turn said that he would turn up with a bunch of friends to cheer the boy at his game.

“Officer Pointer was very sweet and helpful for what he did for my son, considering the fact I am a single parent,” the boy's mom Carissa Brooks told WREG Memphis. She also shared that the boy has been playing basketball for the past three years and always reaches his practice an hour before it starts. “He is determined to keep going in football, and I am here for it all,” the mom expressed. Brooks revealed that her son loves his new shoes.

In the video posted by the officer, the boy was so excited to receive his new shoes that he continued to wear them after trying them on. He kept his old shoes in the bag and walked back home in his brand-new cleats. People took to the comments section of the Facebook post to appreciate the officer's kindness.

Amber Rose Beard commented, "Amazing, look at this little guy, he was so proud! Not him saying when his next game is and the address Michael Pointer! Meaning, you best show up and show out for him! Proud of you for making a strong impact in this young man's life! God saw this action too Bro! Great job!"

Ken West The Artist shared, "My city man! This is what I'm talking about. This is what the city needs. A lot of positivity and it'll be a good place to live. Born and raised in Memphis and I've seen a lot of bad things in my life as a kid. I'm sure you've seen a lot more. You blessed that kid and he'll never forget that moment. That's love brother! Stay safe."
