Photographer captures elderly couple playfully bickering — and it's proof love grows stronger with time

The elderly couple seemed to be on vacation and trying to get good pictures, even though the lighting was not ideal.

Many people feel that love will fade away as the initial honeymoon phase is over. However, witnessing an older couple, in brief, everyday moments makes a person feel that some people are indeed lucky enough to have a love that lasts for a lifetime. Similarly, a photographer who was people-watching in Italy witnessed an older couple bickering with each other in a heartwarming way. The photographer, David Suh—who goes by @davidsuhphoto on Instagram shared the wholesome moment with his viewers.

"POV: You are a photographer people-watching in Italy," the text overlay read. The video showed an older couple taking photos close to a fountain. "It's just an older couple taking pictures of each other," Suh began. The elderly man had clicked a few photos of his partner and went on to show them to her. "Everyone's backlit now, though," the photographer remarked. "She's just saying try again. But she's backlit, though. Oh, he's getting it," Suh said as the older man seemed to be explaining to his wife about the light coming in from the wrong way. "He's saying that right now, the sun is behind you and he is suggesting a different spot on the fountain." However, the woman had refused to listen.

"Stubborn woman," the photographer's friend commented. "She's being stubborn," Suh agreed. "She likes it there. There he goes, he's handing the phone back to her." The photographer chuckled as the woman removed her sunglasses and whipped out her reading glasses to see if the photos were good. "Did she like it? He's explaining to her how he took the photo." But the woman didn't like the photos and gave the phone back to the man. "I think he just took a selfie of him facing the light and then showed her and said, 'Look, isn't that better.'" However, the woman had given up as she got up with her bag and went ahead while the man followed behind.

The caption read, "I see you putting in the effort, sir! Sometimes, we can’t win all the battles." In one of the comments, Suh also mentioned, "Hi everyone! I’m so glad most of you are enjoying the commentary and the content. Just a note to be kind. Yes, the husband is trying and we feel sympathy for him." He continued, "But let’s also have empathy for the wife and not judge her. So many of us have had terrible experiences with photos that we don’t invite others to try when they might have good intentions. We also don’t know how the husband is communicating with her either. I always practice not judging when photographing others and instead being open to their past and how it shows up in front of the camera, so I’d love for us to do the same."

People expressed their thoughts in the comments. @a1rwalk wrote, "My heart hurt watching this. I appreciate that he made an effort! I feel everyone should get pictures that reflect the beauty they see in themselves!" @almonddevs commented, "He’s asking what men ask themselves every time. 'The heck did I do wrong?' As they walk away." @velvetlioness07 remarked, "Guess she didn’t want the picture bad enough or else she would've taken his suggestion."
