Pete Sampras has been a hero on the tennis court for millions of people. However, the hero of his life is undoubtedly his lovely wife, Bridgette Wilson. In a recent statement, Sampras expressed his admiration for his wife's strength, revealing her battle with ovarian cancer. The whole situation has been devastating for the family. He added how it has been hard for them to put the whole ordeal into words for someone else. Though an extremely private person, Sampras decided to make this news public. For his wife, he did not want to leave any avenue unexplored, whether it was based on medicine or faith, in this journey. Therefore, he humbly asked all his well-wishers to send good thoughts and prayers for his wife to help her with this fight.

Pete Sampras, 14-time Grand Slam champion, married Bridgette Wilson, a former actress who has worked on movies like "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in 2000 after 9 months of dating. They became parents to two boys, Christian, 20 and Ryan, 18, per People. Sampras is not active on any of his social media accounts and instead used the ATP Tour's X (formerly known as Twitter) profile to make the statement regarding his wife's diagnosis.

He began the statement by sharing, "As most have come to know, I am a pretty quiet and private person. However, this past year has been an exceptionally challenging time for my family and I have decided to share what's been going on." Thereafter, he broke the heartbreaking news, "Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy and continues with targeted maintenance therapy."

The legend shared how his family has stepped up to the plate in this difficult time. He talked about his two sons being pillars of support in such a challenging time for their parents. "Seeing our boys step up and be such strong supporters of Bridgette, myself and each other has been amazing," he said in the post. The tennis player was full of praise and respect for his wife, stating how she was bravely handling this exhausting battle. He wrote, "Watching Bridgette continue to be an incredible mom and wife through it all has been inspiring."

Sampras has always remained tight-lipped about his life outside the court. However, this difficult time has made him realize how much support counts in such situations. He elucidates how hard it has been for his family to reach out about this situation and to put the difficulty into words. However, for the sake of his wife, Sampras made this news public to get as many good wishes and prayers to guide her through the healing process. He wants her wife to have as much support as she can to get through this battle. 'Pistol Pete' ended the statement by saying, "I am humbly asking for good thoughts and prayers for our family as Bridgette continues to thrive on her healing journey."

The comment section was soon filled with encouraging messages. @MythR23 sent prayers their way and said, "Sending heartfelt prayers and strength to Bridgette, you and your entire family, Sampras. May the journey ahead be filled with hope and healing." @bestevr24m hoped the best for the family and commented, "Hello Pete, you have always been and continue to be a source of inspiration to many. May God be with you and your family in the hour of your need. Wishing Bridgett continued recovery, health and happiness."
