The woman shared that she has been overlooked by her entire family over the years and things are not changing.
Family is usually the biggest support system in anyone's life. Hence, seeing one's family members be ignorant and dismissive can have negative effects on anyone's life. A woman named Rizzi—who goes by @_rizzi_kizzi on TikTok—shared how her family has ignored her for years and how this one incident was her tipping point.
Rizzi was heartbroken when she came to know that she wasn't invited to her three-year-old nephew's birthday party. The woman wondered if she was being dramatic or overthinking as she shared the incident. The woman was crying as she said, "My sister lives four hours away with her fiance and their baby, my nephew." The aunt added, "My nephew just had his birthday. He turned three." The morning after the woman checked Facebook and saw photos and videos of his birthday party. "At first, I thought it was just his family, the fiance's family because they live in that town," Rizzi pointed out.
But then she saw three of her siblings in the video as well as nieces and nephews. "Then I hear my parents," the woman expressed breaking down. At that point, the woman thought that if her parents who lived five minutes away from her could go, she could have gone as well. "So then I text them on this group chat. I am like, the baby had a birthday party and you failed to mention it," the aunt stated. She got a call from her sister who explained, "I am sorry. We put it together so last minute." The sister said that it happened because of the lack of planning and how everyone was invited very last minute.
"They just happened to make the drive down here," the sister said as an explanation of how the other siblings and their parents were present. Rizzi replied, "I live five minutes down the road from them. They were able to make the drive so why wouldn't I be able to make the drive?" The sister started crying and apologizing, saying that she didn't think about it. "I understand that she has a lot on her plate too but I am also kind of blaming my family that was there," the woman voiced out. "Because nobody checked in with me." The woman is torn between feeling that she is being dramatic and that what she is feeling is valid.
"I've been a last-minute thought my entire life. As a middle child you are overlooked the entire time," Rizzi shared. "And I've been overlooked my entire life. It's still true in my adulthood." People took to the comments section of the video to validate the woman's feelings. @hayleygalli wrote, "Being hurt and disappointed by family is a whole different kind of hurt." @steffestwins commented, "Your feelings are so valid. This would have crushed me." @chainsawfem remarked, "The pain of being left out is so real. especially as an adult- it feels like we should be past this. I'm so sorry." @jennymcdubs shared, "It takes 4 seconds to send an invite text. This has happened to me so many times. I’m sorry honey."
