What bothered them was how unprepared they were for life. "This is my first job right out of college. I do not think college really prepared me for anything," they expressed. Though it is normal to be nervous on the first day of work, especially when you are just entering the job market, the individual was freaking out about imaginary scenarios. "I am so anxious that I won't be able to do anything. Not even as simple as making a spreadsheet. I'm so anxious about starting this job," they added. These concerns were constantly bothering them and they couldn't help but ask others if they could relate to them.

"I can't stop thinking about how I would be fired if I don't do well," they wrote in her post. All they needed was an optimistic push that things would turn out to be better. "How do I stop feeling anxious? How does one start to feel ok about a new job?" they asked. Dozens of Reddit users came forward to ease the new employee's stress about the new job and the things that could possibly go wrong. They had some wholesome ideas that would not only help the individual but many others who wish to embark on their new beginnings at work with a positive and confident mindset.

Some suggested activities to cope with the anxiety and tricks to kick-start the job as a fresher. "Take a notebook and write down how to do things to avoid having to ask over and over. Create your own how-to guide. They’ll probably have specific ways of doing things so just being familiar with the software is an advantage," advised u/Ok-Grape-3628. "Find some alone time and put on some meditation music. Take a deep breath and while meditating, see yourself blending in at this new job. Being a successful and quick learner, exuding confidence and poise. Turn your nervous anxiety into positive energy," added u/Danymity831.

Others laid out the reality as to how this feeling was normal and would subside soon. "It's going to take you a few days to get comfortable with any new job. It's nerve-racking for sure but with each shift you go into you will feel more and more comfortable. Slow and steady wins the race," reassured u/Laxit00. "I got my current job fresh out of college. No one expects you to know anything at all. You’ll find that people are mostly relying on the knowledge they’ve gotten on the job, but also making it up as they go," said u/moonisherewithme.
