Rescuing pets can be a truly rewarding experience for both the pet and the rescuer. By adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue organization, you are giving an animal a second chance at life and providing them with a loving and caring home. Other than helping reduce stray overpopulation, you also get a loyal and affectionate companion. While it's important to remember that rescuing a pet requires the commitment of time, effort and resources to ensure their health and well-being, the rewards are immeasurable.

However, many people still choose to buy pets instead of rescuing them, and shelters often have to come up with innovative measures to persuade people to adopt. The Kansas Humane Society had to do just that. They posted hilarious photos of a 2-year-old cat, comparing him to actor Pedro Pascal and even named him after the actor, reports PEOPLE.

Amusing images of Pedro Pspspscal, edited into stills from Pascal's recent projects, like the movie "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" and his TV series "The Mandalorian" on Disney+, were shared by KHS. They shared the pictures on Twitter on March 20 with the caption, "Pedro Pspspscal is daddy and we all love this famous boi. Here's some of his most famous scenes with co-stars Bella Ramsey, Grogu and Nicolas Cage. #adoptdontshop #pedropascal."

On the same day, a Twitter user with the handle @cowlonful stumbled upon Pedro Pspspscal's adoption profile and shared it on social media. The Twitter user shared the screenshot of the cat's adoption page and mentioned that they had been laughing for five minutes straight. The tweet quickly went viral, garnering over 8 million views. As a result of Pedro Pascal's viral moment on Twitter, the cat was able to find a new home.

Two days later, on March 22, KHS tweeted, "Pedro Pspspscal got adopted yesterday, but we currently have 24 cats that would love to go home with you!" According to its Twitter page, the shelter based in Wichita has been in operation since 1888 and boasts a 98% success rate in rescuing animals under its care.

Jordan Bani-Younes from KHS told Newsweek, "Pedro came to us from our neighbors next door at the Wichita Animal Shelter, who found him as a stray. Pedro is a very cuddly boy that loves head rubs. We named him after Pedro Pascal, just to capitalize on all the memes and success of 'The Mandalorian' and 'The Last of Us.'" There has been no response from Pascal, who is active on social media under the handle @pascalispunk, regarding the adoption of Pedro, the cat. However, since the actor is known to engage on social media, there is a possibility of a response.

While Pedro the cat is no longer up for adoption, the KHS informed the outlet that they have 91 dogs and 15 cats currently waiting to be adopted. Bani-Younes said, "We really need fosters to help expand our shelter walls, and people to adopt, and spay/neuter the pets they already have."
