The candy store, was supposed to shut down in 2014 after its owner died, but...

Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are obviously great actors, but they are greater as human beings. The actors, with their respective partners, co-own a candy store in Rhinebeck, New York, and the story behind it is just beautiful. Samuel's Sweet Shop, the candy store, was supposed to shut down in 2014 after its owner, Ira Gutner, passed away, but it was saved thanks to Paul and Jeffery, who stepped in just in time, bought the shop, and decided to maintain it as it was to honor the love the community had for it. Jeffrey talked about the heartwarming story on The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon.

Paul and Jeffrey aren't those typical owners who do nothing except for promotions and legal paperwork; in fact, they are very much involved in the candy store, and the "Ant-Man" actor even works at the register occasionally. Samuel's Sweet Shop not only sells candies but also has a variety of desserts and pastries, among other things. "One of the most important things any human can experience is to be a part of a community and feel connected to where you live and to other people who live there, especially in a job like mine," Paul said in an interview with The Poughkeepsie Journal. For Jeffrey, Rhinebeck feels like home. In fact, he said, "It's the first time I've felt at home in my entire adult life. It's a combination of the people and the scenery. It's a different vibe from my 20 years in LA when I didn't even know my neighbors."
Though the candy store is backed by two popular actors, it is still primarily managed by the local people. Notably. John Traver, who had started working for Gutner as a teenager, is now running the shop. "It continued to operate in the wake of Ira’s death. Due to lots of hard work and good fortune, it continued to operate," Traver said. After Gutner's death, Traver recalled how he didn't have any means to buy and run the shop, which meant they would have to shut it down. That's when Jeffrey contacted him and said he and a few others, including Paul Rudd, would help keep the store running. "I had lost my friend. But these really great people came forward and helped me and saved the local candy store, and now I have this incredible opportunity to make this place as successful as I can, which is awesome. It’s great," Traver exclaimed.
Meanwhile, reacting to the sweet little story, @alicefrostrebe commented, "Jimmy will have to give Negan half of the candies." @24lizliz24 wrote, "Jeff is one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's just so kind and so interesting." @melissa_valo commented, "No matter how many times he tells this story, it's always the sweetest thing ever, literally." @noah.blackwood said, "This story needs to be made into a movie. Just cast Paul and Jeffrey in it. Similarly, @jessicaluvzac4everkz confessed, "This inspired me to open up my own candy shop. If it ever happens, I'll make sure to feature chocolate barbed wire bats to pay homage to its beginnings," referring to The Walking Dead's prop bat, Lucille, "Or maybe it'll just feature a bunch of crudely named ice cream flavors. 'Pee-Pee Pants City,' I'm thinking that'd be like a lemon sorbet. 'Freaky-Deaky' — I don't want to ruin the surprise for this one, but I'm sure it won't disappoint. 'Warlock's Ballsack' will be a personal favorite of mine. Truly inspirational guy, thanks for the ideas."
