Bride mocks friend's 'comfy' makeup look, until her loving partner gives her a taste of her own medicine

Every time they complimented the bride, it felt more like subtle insults

When a person noticed a friend constantly ridiculing their wife, they stepped in for the ultimate revenge, but not in the way anybody expected. It all began during her wedding celebration when she tried to mock their wife's comfy look before passing it off as a compliment. While the woman chose to ignore the belittling remark, her loving partner took offense and immediately resolved to take action. They neither confronted the bride nor addressed the issue directly. Instead, they just went with it, low-key roasting her with "compliments" so she gets a taste of her own medicine. The person (u/flanman1991 on Reddit) posted the story on April 7.

The friend had arranged for an elaborate 3-day wedding celebration with multiple events. Day 1 started at 9 PM, after which the bride forced guests to join her on the dance floor. The couple, however, skipped it since they had work the next morning. Now, their decision to opt out of the celebration didn't sit well with the bride. In fact, when she saw the couple again, she took every chance to taunt them.

"She tells us how much fun they had dancing and how even old people and children went — I brush it off and smile," the person recalled. The couple ignored the insult and continued the celebrations until the bride crossed her limits. By day 3, the wedding guests, including the couple, were all tired, but they still got ready to attend the never-ending events. Everything was okay until the bride went overboard with her insults. "Her friend greets us and says, 'Oh, hi babe...wow, you look...comfy,' with this judgmental tone in her voice as if to say my wife wasn't trying hard enough (which was bullshit)," the person shared.

Once again, the woman brushed off the humiliating remark, but her partner did not let it slip. Every time they came face-to-face with the bride, the person "complimented" her in such a way that she had to think whether she was really being appreciated or insulted. Some of the epic one-liners they used were "I love how you don't care about vanity and just go with that natural look, and who cares what people think?"; "You look super comfy"; "I wish I could have your attitude with arriving whenever, but I always have to show up on time for things"; etc. "I will continue doing this until this person is no longer in our lives, or one of us dies," the person pledged.

In a world where women are exposed to marital abuse, the Reddit story assures that true love is all about standing up for each other. A report (The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey) found that nearly 43.5 million American women have experienced sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by a romantic partner at least once in their lifetime. Moreover, researchers found that almost one in four women experienced physical violence from an intimate partner. Now, while 20.5% recalled getting slapped, pushed, or shoved, 18.2% reported experiencing severe forms of physical violence, the survey revealed.

Meanwhile, while some praised the partner for standing up for their wife, others mentioned subtle ways to continue making the friend uncomfortable. For instance, u/smallfloralprince commented, "Dude, you are partner goals. You are quietly taking up the most honorable mantle of revenge, and no, not the showy, overblown revenge, but the more dangerous, gentle mind-f*** kind of revenge, the kind that the a**hole friend actually deserves. I love this — every part of it."

Similarly, u/ballztothewallz10 shared, "I love the support and love you have for your wife — that’s just awesome. Next time you see her, ask, 'Are you okay?' 'You look a little pale,' or only 'Are you feeling ok?' or something along those lines. A friend of mine did this to her ex-husband, and eventually he went to his doctor as he became paranoid. Oh, the laughs we had!"
