Paris Hilton mourns the loss of beloved dog after 23 years of unconditional love: 'She was family'

Losing a beloved pet is a deeply distressing experience that affects people from all walks of life. In a recent instance, Paris Hilton, the renowned reality star, suffered the heartbreak of bidding farewell to her cherished chihuahua, her faithful companion for an impressive span of 23 years.

Hilton shared this sorrowful news with her loved ones on Instagram on May 22. Her post included many photos of her pet, Harajuku and also of her other dogs. "Today, my heart breaks as I say goodbye to my precious chihuahua," the caption read. "For an incredible 23 years, she filled my life with so much love, loyalty and unforgettable moments."

Hilton added that her dog "lived a long, beautiful and iconic life, surrounded by love until her final peaceful slumber." Hilton further shared, "Words cannot express the immense pain I’m feeling right now. She was more than just a pet; she was family to me, a loyal friend who was always by my side through every twist and turn life brought my way." Among the carousel of pictures, one picture is especially touching as Hilton holds her pet in one hand and an umbrella in the other.

The post further read, "From the glitz and glamour to the quiet moments behind the scenes, she was always there, a tiny ball of love, brightening up even the darkest of days. We shared so many memories, laughter, and tears." The star expressed gratitude for Harajaku, who was her "sweet darling. Thank you for blessing my life with your unconditional love."

She further shared, "You will forever be my little angel, forever missed and forever loved. You may be physically gone, but the imprint of your pawprints on my life will never fade. Rest gently, sweet friend, knowing that you will be cherished and missed always."

Hilton's adoration for dogs has been evident on numerous occasions, showcasing her deep affection for animals. Hilton told PEOPLE in 2009 that her pets were "mini-fashionistas" as they enjoyed living in a luxurious doll house. "They love to run up and down the stairs and chill on their balcony," she added. In 2015, Paris Hilton also had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to another cherished companion, Tinkerbell, her beloved chihuahua. Tinkerbell had been a loyal presence in her life for 14 years, making his passing a poignant and deeply felt loss.

"My heart is broken," she wrote in her Instagram post at that time. "I am so sad & devastated. After 14 amazing years together, my baby Tinkerbell has passed away of old age. I feel like I've lost a member of my family. She was such a special & incredible soul. We went through so much together. I can't believe she's gone. I will miss her & think about her for the rest of my life. I love you Tinky, you are a Legend & will never be forgotten."
