Parents refuse to tear down daughter's teenage bedroom that's an '80s time capsule'—and it's totally rad

Time capsules offer vivid glimpses into the past, with certain items and places becoming nostalgic symbols of bygone days when left untouched by time. A woman recently shared a perfect example of this online after discovering that her sister’s old bedroom had been left untouched since she moved out in the 1980s. Nicole Chalawich–who goes by @treevibenana on TikTok–shared a video tour of the poster-filled bedroom, allowing the internet to marvel at the impeccably preserved space.

"POV: Your sister's room is an actual time capsule from 1980 something," the text overlay of the video read as Chalawich revealed her sister's teenage bedroom, complete with an American flag bedsheet. "Oh my gosh, they kept everything up," she exclaimed as she showed posters of various bands like "White Snake", "Def Leppard" and "Motley Crue". "I love this so much," Chalawich expressed and pointed at a picture of "Miami Vice." There were also toys and magazines from the '80s in the room. According to Newsweek, another special thing about the two sisters was that they only discovered each other a year ago when a DNA test revealed they had the same father.

Surprisingly, the two shared a remarkably similar childhood, both raised by grandparents after their mothers' passing and growing up just five miles apart. Their children also coincidentally share similar names. The house belonged to the sisters' uncle and the '80s bedroom was closed off after the passing of various relatives. "Now the house is hers. She wanted me to see her teenage room and took me up. I was absolutely awestruck, and now here we are," Chalawich revealed. She is grateful to have found a connection with her sister’s past through the room, offering glimpses of years gone by that she couldn't be a part of.

In another video, Chalawich shared stickers, slam books, and other nostalgic items she found inside the drawers of her sister’s old room. The caption of the video read, "Memories jumping out at me from everywhere and it's not even my room! Getting to know my sister this way is absolutely priceless! I wasn't able to get to know her when we were teenagers, so seeing her room from this time period is just AMAZING!! Truly, like I am a time traveler!" Chalawich also revealed that her grandparents were the ones who preserved the room, but sadly, most of their relatives are no longer alive. People expressed their amazement over the well-kept room in the comment section.

Those are fabulous!" Chalawich replied that she did not know where to find such stickers as they were over 30 years old.
