A woman took to social media to share the unboxing of the time capsule her parents made for her and her siblings when they were just kids. Jamie Poepoe (@jamiepoepoe) revealed that the time capsule wasn’t made just for her. As she’s a triplet, her parents made one for all three of their children at once and told them to open it when they turn 25. Now, this day finally came and what they found inside truly touched their hearts, reported In The Know.
As the song “Where’d All the Time Go?” by Dr. Dog plays in the backdrop, Jamie is seen uncovering the box which contained handwritten notes from her parents. In the box, she also finds three baby shirts — with each shirt having the names of her and her siblings, Scotty and Jonnie. There’s also a bib from their first birthday, a mix tape, a stack of letters and letters for them to read later, and even a few stuffed toys and animals. Among the list of adorable things, there was a newspaper inside from the day they were born and a wine bottle that said, “Miracles Happen in 3’s.”
“How’d that happen so fast,” Jamie wrote in the caption of this video, which has garnered 1.3 million views. Many TikTok users found this video endearing, deeply touching, and full of love. “This is such a beautiful gift to give your child!” @Sunni wrote. “I just know your parents really love y’all.” “As a 25-year-old triplet, this is nice,” said @jooo913. @MiriSuber pointed out how important your 25th year is, because “that’s the year you realize you actually love your parents.”
Many also revealed that their parents had done similar things for them. “My mom made ‘forever boxes’ for me and my siblings,” @Emily wrote. “She gave me my last one, I just turned 30… the nostalgia is overwhelming.” “My parents did this but I opened it myself when I was 7 and ruined everything,” @Samantha said. Some parents even weighed in on the post, saying they’d been thinking about doing something like this for their children. “Honest question, do you appreciate this? At your age?” @Rebecca Lis asked Jamie. “Want to do it for my son but worried he won’t until older.”
It is a beautiful and thoughtful thing to do for your kids and they will appreciate it in good time. “Reading back all the letters from our family was everything,” the TikTok user shared. “So awesome they kept all of these items from our first year too.”
This gift was so heartwarming and any kid would be lucky to have it!
