The cast and creators of the beloved NBC family drama are coming together in Austin next year and are bringing some exciting surprises with them.
While it's been almost 5 years since Parenthood aired its final episode, the show and its cast still bear a special place in the hearts of their dedicated fans. The Bravermans continue to be one of our favorite TV families ever and even with newer shows like This Is Us gaining popularity in the family drama genre, we still miss that warmth and relatability Zeek and Camille Braverman's clan brought with them. As it turns out, we might have the opportunity to witness their reunion as soon as June next year at the ATX Television Festival.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the cast and creators of the beloved NBC family drama are coming together in Austin next year, bringing with them some surprises. As of now, the show's creator Jason Katims, writer/exec producer David Hudgins, and castmembers Peter Krause (Adam Braverman), Lauren Graham (Sarah Braverman), Monica Potter (Kristina Braverman), Erika Christensen (Julia Braverman-Graham), Mae Whitman (Amber Holt), and Craig T. Nelson (patriarch Zeek Braverman) have been confirmed for the special reunion.
The Parenthood event at season nine of ATX will feature a live script reading and panel conversation celebrating 10 years since the show first premiered on NBC. Meanwhile, Scary Mommy reports that some details about the reunion are still being kept under wraps and will be an exciting surprise for fans. Set to take place June 4-7, 2020, the Austin, Texas-based event seems to be teasing a revival of the show. While we won't know any time soon how many episodes or even what the reunion/reboot will be like, any news of the Bravermans returning is great news and we'll happily take it.
The ATX festival also warned fans to be prepared for some emotional announcements saying, "More 'Parenthood' news will be coming, so stay tuned. And now would probably be a good time to start stocking up on tissues, FYI." While news of the reunion is undoubtedly exciting for fans of the show, the event is sure to be an experience the cast and crew of Parenthood are looking forward to.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the series wrapped its six-season run in January 2015, actress Lauren Graham said, "There are many shows where you intend to keep in touch, and the nature of what we do is that everybody moves on in so many different directions that maybe they will find a new family in whatever their next job is, but I have never been so confident that the members of my immediate family in this show will continue to be in my life forever."
Mae Whitman echoed her co-star's emotions saying, "I feel the same way [Graham does]. It never ends. There is this sort of foreboding feeling, and for me to genuinely not have that in any way and just know that we have become daily ingrained parts of each other's lives. I mean, [Graham] and I do mundane things together all the time. It has just spiraled into something so woven into the fiber of who I am. I don't even remember what it was like before knowing these people."
