Paraplegic man gets out of his wheelchair to propose: 'No man has an excuse after this'

A proposal is one of the most meaningful moments in a person’s life, but some go the extra mile to make it truly unforgettable. One paraplegic man wanted to make his proposal special in his own way. Instead of remaining seated, he decided to get down on the floor to ask the love of his life to marry him. The man, Michael Maze, shared the wholesome proposal on his TikTok (@michaelmaze727), making both his fiancée and the viewers bawl their eyes out. In the video, the couple is seen sitting at a restaurant, with Maze captioning it: "[I] asked the table behind me to record the video while I propose to my fiancée."

He slowly moved his wheelchair towards his fiancée. Once he came close to her, he moved the wheelchair back, steadied himself, and began lowering himself onto the floor. His fiancée, at first unaware of what was happening, suddenly realized. Her eyes widened, and she covered her mouth, completely stunned. Now sitting on the floor, he looked up at her, holding the ring in his hands. He couldn’t get down on one knee the traditional way, but that didn’t matter—his effort spoke louder than anything else could. By the time he proposed, she was already emotional, standing in front of him with love and admiration written all over her face. 

Online, people were overwhelmed by the dedication and love behind his proposal. @jbeck527 joked, "A man in a wheelchair literally got down on one knee to propose NOW GO PUT THE GAHDAMN CLOTHES IN THE DRYER." @e_beth_e wrote, "Damn, the DEFINITION of if he wanted to, HE WOULD! Jillian Pavlica, while delivering the news, began reading from the teleprompter, only to realize mid-sentence that the story was about her. As she read, "A Huntsville anchor is being proposed to on live TV right now," the realization hit, and her co-anchors stepped aside to let the moment unfold.

Her fiancé, Vince Ramos, then stepped into the frame, took her hands, and told her, "I can’t picture a day in my life waking up without you by my side." He then got down on one knee and popped the question, leaving Pavlica in tears of joy as she said "yes." The proposal was carefully planned, with the teleprompter script leading her naturally into the surprise. Ramos later shared that the goal was for her to get through at least half of it before realizing what was happening. Pavlica also revealed that her producer had distracted her beforehand to keep the surprise intact, making the moment even more special.
