'A wise man once told me — how you do anything, is how you do everything...'

A Papa John's employee, Dough Joe (@d0ughjoe), has never shied away from sharing his day-to-day life on TikTok, including his job. However, not everyone appreciates him for what he does; in fact, someone even mocked him for working at the restaurant for a minimal wage. Surprisingly, Joe didn't take it personally; instead, he posted a video defending his job and listing out all the things Papa John's has helped him achieve.
The person had criticized Joe for wasting his talent by working at the pizza hub, unaware that Papa John's had been supporting him financially. Working there for almost six years, his job helped him complete his college, buy his first car, and achieve other milestones without worrying about finances. "What you might say is a low-skill or a low-paying job has actually taught me a lot," Joe said. He explained that while he understands that not everyone would enjoy making pizzas, he totally enjoys the drill. "It’s never wasted when you keep getting better," he captioned the video. Joe also revealed his motivation, the force that drives him towards hard work. "A wise man once told me — how you do anything, is how you do everything," he added, emphasizing the importance of giving 100% to everything you do, whether it's working as a pizzaiolo or climbing the corporate ladder.

A survey of over 600 workers by Toast found that 37% of respondents reported that good hourly pay is their favorite aspect of the job. This means working in the food industry has proved to be fairly beneficial for Americans. The same study found that 59% of respondents confessed their primary goal is to make money, pay bills, and support their lifestyle. This number has increased year over year; that explains why restaurant workers view restaurants as a practical way to support themselves financially. Moreover, workers ranked a fast-paced environment (21%), a convenient commute (18%), and good management (17%) as their favorite aspects of the job.

Meanwhile, reacting to Joe's savage reply, @robertgodley1 commented, "I had to show my 12-year-old daughter this. I always tell her, no matter what you do, always give it your 100%. And if you enjoy being a burger flipper, be the best damn burger flipper. But put your whole heart into it." Similarly, @hsilby shared, "I’m 48. Papa John’s helped me with college. I was a vet tech, and now I work at a local pizza place with a wood oven. (A bad day equals death in the vet world. A bad day in pizza is dropping a pie. Pizza = happiness.) They pay me really well and are flexible with my schedule (I have a teen daughter, and hence I’m here on TikTok). I have almost 20 years of pizza experience, and I absolutely love it!" @im.just.me.margo shared, "That’s right, do your best, no matter what you’re doing; this attitude is going to take you everywhere in life. Good luck, kid!"
