The gift from the Panera worker helped the woman in distress heal a little bit and she was grateful for it.
It has been said that "a little kindness goes a long way" and that's what happened to a woman who was having a hard time but a thoughtful gesture from a stranger healed her a bit. Jessica Wonders–who goes by @sunfirepoppy on TikTok– was quite vulnerable when she pulled up at a drive-through. A worker noticed this and gave her something special, which made her believe in goodness more than ever.
Wonders shared her experience, "I just went through the drive-through at Panera. A guy I could tell by his voice that took my order was the guy that has worked there forever, is an older gentleman." While ordering, she was wearing sunglasses, but people could still see her eyes through them. He looked at her and told her that she looked like "somebody who could use some warm bread and butter."
He then told her that his baguettes just come out of the oven and offered her one. The old person also shared with her that the smell of bread reminded him of his mom. He also talked about his childhood and his dad, who would arm wrestle with him for a piece of bread. Wonders told the kind worker that she could use some comfort food, "I would love that. Thank you so much."
While narrating the incident, Wonders was sitting in her car and crying over the warm bread and butter that the stranger offered her. "It must be because I'm a Libra and today's the day after the eclipse because I can't stop f**king crying." She added that she has been dealing with major life changes. "Go get some warm bread and butter if you're sad," she advised viewers in her video while trying to hold back her tears.
The video sent the internet into a tizzy and garnered over 1 million views with 152K likes. @user3674153236581 commented, "I love people who know how to be human and to reach out to others." @itsallgravy21 wrote, "Not me sobbing watching a stranger on Tiktok eat bread." @christines_snap shared, "I was like, oh free bread that's nice, and then he went into the family story." @klfreng said, "What a sweet old man and you hang in there! Warm bread heals!" Small acts of kindness are indeed what make all the difference.
In a follow-up video, she addressed the comments where some people told her that being Libra and the solar eclipse were not the reasons why she was crying. "So my relationship is going through it right now and it might not exist anymore, is that what you want to hear? Like you guys are ruthless. I was trying to just skirt around the fact that I was dealing with big girl big life problems because you know not everybody wants to hear that when they're scrolling." The video is captioned, "I mean I am an oversharer, but only when the time is right and I'm ready to speak on it."
