While an expensive bag or designer shoes might seem like a luxury to some, for many, splurging on themselves is an essential act of self-care. For a teenager, saving up and purchasing something special is a significant milestone. That's why losing it, especially through no fault of your own, can be devastating. This is exactly what happened to Reddit user u/Glittering-Celery323, who shared how she bought a Louis Vuitton bag after months of hard work, only to lose it because of her mom. She turned to the internet, seeking advice on what to do next.

"Ok, so I have always wanted a Louis Vuitton purse. Something expensive as my own, as all my things are hand-me-downs from my older sisters as we are not the richest people," the 15-year-old began. "Eventually I decided that if I wanted my purse, I’d get it myself. So I got a job at a local restaurant and started to save up my money." Within a few months, the teenager had enough money. Describing the big moment she wrote, "I quickly went and bought my bag, I didn’t even let my family touch it when I got home. I didn’t even wear it for the first week as I was too scared to damage it in any way."

"One day after school I came back home and went into my room to look at my bag, but when I got in, it was gone from its place on my desk. I looked around my room to see if I’d moved it and just forgot, but I couldn’t find it," the teenager revealed. "I went out and I asked my sisters but they said that they hadn’t touched it so I went and found my mom." The girl asked her mom if she had seen her bag anywhere. "She said she’d shown it to her friend and her friend had liked it and asked if she could borrow it. My mom had said yes. I hadn’t even used it yet," she exclaimed.

"To say the least, I wasn’t pleased by this news, I blew up at my mom telling her not to touch my stuff and she said that her friend would keep it well and I was being dramatic. I got grounded and was told to stay in my room since I was acting like a child over a bag," the daughter recounted. "The next day I asked my mom about the bag and she got an uncomfortable look on her face. Instantly, I knew something was wrong. She wouldn’t say anything but after a while, she finally admitted that her friend had lost the bag, and she didn’t plan on replacing it." The girl told her mom to never touch her things again and also said some hurtful things that made her mom cry.

"My sisters are calling me an a****** because it was just a bag and I was being dramatic," the post concluded and the girl wondered if she was at fault in the whole scenario. But people in the comments were quick to support the teenager. u/Carbon-Base wrote, "I wonder how the mom will react if the daughter files a theft report. LV isn't cheap, after all." u/pokemonprofessor121 commented, "Call your mom's friend with your own phone. Get her side of the story. Tell her how hard you worked for that bag. Tell her you need to get paid back." u/The_Furtive_Fireball went on to claim, "Your mother's friend didn't borrow and lose the bag, your mother stole and sold it."
