Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo was testing out his camera — then he ended up saving a woman's life

Sometimes, a person in a dire situation might come across unexpected sources of help. A similar thing happened with a drowning woman, who was saved by an Olympic kitesurfer as he was surfing at the same place and testing out his camera. The Brazilian surfer was glad that he could save the woman in distress and took to Instagram to share what exactly happened on the fateful day. Bruno Lobo, who goes by @brunolobo31 on Instagram, took to the platform to share a brief clip of the rescue.

"The day that God used me as an instrument to save this young woman, all honor and glory to God," the post began. The surfer advised people to stay alert in places like seas, rivers, or any water bodies they don't know about as the current at some of these places can be very strong. "I went in at 17:40 to do the last test on the camera, it was a cloudy day and wind conditions were not the best, but I decided to test the support that had arrived, it was the first day using this material, I put the camera to record and headed to the coast," Lobo recounted. However, after sailing for a few meters, the surfer heard a cry for help and saw a girl who was drowning.

"I quickly approached her with the kite, I tried to calm her down and asked her to climb on my back, she was quite tired and powerless, I used the equipment to bring her safely to the sand," the kitesurfer revealed. There, the lifeguards performed first aid on the woman, and everything went well. "Thank you for all the messages, I only did what needed to be done and what was within my reach!" the man pointed out. "I was very surprised at that moment to see someone at that level in the sea, and when I recognized that she was drowning I promptly went in her direction to help," Lobo told CNN. "I am very happy that there was a happy end and she is fine! For sure if she stayed (longer) in the water she wouldn’t be."

"Words can't describe my gratitude! It was the salvation that God and my guides sent to me. I really could not handle it if I spent five minutes on the high sea, even knowing how to swim and using anti-drowning techniques. I wish you showers of blessings in your life!" the rescued woman, Eduarda, wrote in the comments section of the post. Many people took to the comments section of the post to appreciate what the sportsman did. @elizianegama remarked, "May God continue blessing your life! You are a pride for Maranhão and for Brazil."
