As the 29-year-old Olympic swimmer celebrated his win, his wife gave him another cause to celebrate.
From the moment a couple finds out they're expecting to the child's birth, each moment is special for new parents. They start getting to know their child months before delivery. While some parents wait until birth to learn the gender, others find joy in planning fun-filled gender reveals. Olympic Swimmer Ryan Murphy's wife, Bridget, wanted a unique and exciting gender reveal to surprise her husband. On July 29, as Murphy celebrated his bronze medal win in the men's 100-m backstroke at the Paris Olympics, his pregnant wife pulled off an epic gender reveal, as reported by NBC.
Representing the USA, the 29-year-old swimmer already holds 3 golds from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics as well as one gold and one silver from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as per Team USA. He added another feather to his cap by winning a bronze for the USA this year, but there was another reason for Murphy to celebrate as his wife Bridget cheered for him from the audience holding a placard that said, "Ryan, It's a girl!" The swimmer was expecting a daughter and he couldn't have wished for a better gender reveal.
The elated swimmer went ahead and hugged his wife who was holding the placard in the audience and the soon-to-be parents celebrated the two significant moments on the same day. "That’s a great way to find out. That really lit me up and brought this night to a whole other level. It’s really exciting to learn that I’m going to be a girl dad," Murphy told the news channel. When asked if he wanted a girl, Murphy told NBC 6, "Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to go in and be like, I hope it's this or that. If it was my choice I would have had twins. But having a baby girl is awesome."

The Florida-based Olympian got married last September and he and his wife are hoping to welcome their baby daughter in January 2025. "My life is going to change, and I’m really excited about that. It definitely does put things into perspective. I think up to this point, swimming has been the most important thing in my life. Every major decision I make is with swimming in mind, and that’s going to change coming up," Murphy said. "I’m really looking forward to what’s coming, a baby girl," he added.

Speaking of wholesome gender reveals, adoptive parents throwing a heartwarming gender reveal party also gained online popularity recently. When the monumental hazards of throwing a gender reveal party were widely recognized, these parents decided to show the right way to throw one, and the internet loved it. Charlette and Dan Fontaine (@charlettefontaine) shared a TikTok video, where the couple was holding a black balloon and their adopted 12-year-old daughter Bianca popped it. As pink confetti fell on the floor, Bianca exclaimed, "It's a 12-year-old girl!" The Fontaines showed that even adopted kids deserve a gender reveal party and won hearts.
