News anchor gets the surprise of a lifetime when boyfriend proposes to her during 'special report'

This whole thing occurred on a televised program and was announced by none other than the now-bride-to-be, Cornelia Nicholson herself, who had no idea what was about to come. She was both shocked and ecstatic by the gesture. Tennessee news anchor Cornelia Nicholson was going through her normal day as a reporter when she introduced a "special report." The catch was that she was presenting her own proposal and everyone in the studio was in on it except her. Suddenly, her boyfriend, Riley Nagel, burst into the scene and asked for her hand in marriage with a swoon-worthy declaration of love. He was all prepared with a bouquet of flowers and said, "I thought it'd be fitting to ask you this question here since we met in the news. Cornelia Nicholson, would you marry me?"

Nicholson could not stop her tears and happily said yes to the beautiful proposal. During the proposal, Nagel described all the qualities she has that make his life and everyone around hers much better. "You have such an amazing personality. You're so bright, and you always light up a room when you come in and make everyone laugh," he said. Apart from personal qualities, he also appreciated her professional attributes and called her "incredibly talented, especially in news." He explained how she makes him want to do better at his own job, saying: "You're one of the reasons, or pretty much the main reason I'm still in the news today. You're always pushing me to do better in news and other aspects of my life."

The whole proposal was easy to arrange for Nagel as the pair worked together at the WRCB news station. They met four years ago while working together at another news station. From their very first encounter, Nagel knew she was the girl for him. He instantly felt drawn to her and they soon began dating. In a follow-up newscast, Nagel—visibly emotional after the proposal—quipped, "They don't call me the romance reporter for nothing!"

Nicholson, on her part, admitted she knew the proposal was coming but had no idea about the gesture her now-fiance was going to pull off in front of so many TV viewers.
