Pregnancy and postpartum take their toll on every mother. When the baby arrives, moms are expected to focus on their baby's well-being before their own. But one mom was left hurt and devastated by her partner after she gave birth. A new mom who goes by Paige E took to the online forum of Netmums in 2020 and shared her story of an unpleasant experience with her partner after their baby was born. The post started with Paige revealing that she and her partner had been together for two and a half years before she gave birth to their son.

But instead of celebrating parenthood together, Paige's partner dropped a bomb by admitting that he no longer loves her. "He went on to say I don't make an effort and put makeup on anymore or shave. I've shaved once since my son was born. I always shave my armpits regularly, but the bikini area, I just haven't been overly keen on shaving because my C-section scar had not healed properly," the woman wrote, wondering if it is normal for someone to say rude stuff like that to a mom who had recently given birth.

"I feel my son doesn't sleep well and he's up every two hours, sometimes awake from 12 am till 7 am. I'm the one who does every night shift, all the cleaning in the house and bottles and everything. So when my son sleeps through the day, I've got the cleaning to do and the dog to entertain, so I don’t get time to do my makeup or anything else," she elaborated. When her partner gets home from work, all he does is make himself a quick meal, spend time with the baby for a brief ten minutes and then leave the house to entertain himself.

"I just don't have time to do makeup or shave!" Paige wrote, expressing her frustration. "And if I did have time, I'd choose to do something else, other than that! It's just made me feel a bit rubbish about myself. He says I'm not affectionate on top of all that and says I turn my back to him at night. I have to settle our son to sleep in his crib next to me. I feel like it is mean to turn away from him and turn to my partner." She turns towards the baby to make sure the infant is sleeping properly and not getting suffocating under the blanket or anything else. "I don't think he understands that for the first couple of months, my mind and attention is going to be on our son. Surely, that's what makes me a good mum and you don't palm somebody off because of it," the post concluded.

The forum readily supported the mom and called out the actions of her immature partner, who possibly did not understand the sacrifices parents need to make for their infants. Momofthree M wrote, "Your partner is shocking. I'd tell him to pack his bags. I couldn't be with a man who constantly wanted to put me down. It would make me feel rubbish. Having a baby, especially your first, is hard work. Just focus on yourself and the little one." Ashley Y commented, "I would get rid of him. My son is almost four with ASD and some days, my legs have more hair than my husband's. I don't wear makeup and my hair seems to be constantly in a bun. My husband shares childcare after work (I stay at home with him all day, so when he gets home, it's his turn)."
