A name with a secret
Throughout the author's pregnancy, her husband wanted to name their daughter Claire. She was okay with the name, but she disliked that it belonged to someone she'd never met or heard of. So, whenever her husband brought up the name, she politely refused him. The couple had been together for five years, but she had never heard of Claire. "I even asked one of his college friends at our baby shower because I thought maybe I'd somehow forgotten hearing about her, and he just looked confused and said he didn't know who I was talking about," the author recalled. After their daughter was born, her husband asked her again, but she refused to name their baby Claire. Sad, her husband told her that he'd always wanted to name his daughter after his late friend. The following day, the author met her mother-in-law for coffee and began digging for answers. Her MIL told her that Claire and her husband had been engaged. Now, if we relate to the Reddit post, the husband wasn't wrong in wanting to name his baby after his late fiancée. But he should've at least been honest with his wife.
