A new dad shared his hilarious perspective on the factors one should consider before planning to have kids.
Becoming parents is perhaps one of the most beautiful experiences in the world, but young couples often wonder if they are actually ready for it. Recently, social media influencer Jordan Scott Huggins (@akayoungbeefy), who is a new dad, shared a hilarious reality check for anyone considering parenthood through an Instagram video. The video, with over two million views, showcases Huggins' humorous perspective on a funny yet crucial question that'll help understand if someone is genuinely prepared to welcome a baby.
Huggins begins the video by talking about his daughter, whom he welcomed three months ago. "A lot of people spend a lot of time before having a kid, thinking about if they are ready to have a kid. Right? I know that we did. And the advice that you get largely is 'you will never know if you are ready.' You will never save enough, you will just never truly know if you are ready to have kids until you have kids," he said. However, Huggins disagrees with this advice, believing there's actually a way to assess how prepared you are for parenthood. "There is one question, you can ask yourselves to figure out if you are ready to have kids or not," he added. And voila, the moment arrived when Huggins had everyone rolling on the floor laughing as he revealed the important question that would help couples with their family planning. He asks, "How are you with poop? How do you react to human sh*t?"
While his question is comical, Huggins hits on a fundamental truth about parenting—dealing with poop, which becomes an inevitable part of daily life once you become a parent. Moreover, Huggins urges his audience to imagine a hypothetical situation and says, "Hypothetically, you have poop on your hands right now, do you freak out or not? Now, let's say you have poop on your hands and you can't really take care of it for a couple of minutes. Are you still okay? What part of your body are you comfortable getting poop on? Let's say you are holding your baby like this (on your shoulder). It poops and it comes out of the top of the diaper. You did not realize that it was an option. You could squeeze it like a toothpaste tube. How are you still okay?"
Once the video was posted online, people flooded the comment section with humorous remarks. Huggins' "poop readiness" test resonated with new parents, who relate that diaper duty is indeed one of the unspoken responsibilities of parenthood. @jess_canyounot_2.0, wrote, "I remember the first time my son sh*t on his dad's arm like it was yesterday. The look of horror on his face will remain with me always." Meanwhile, another pregnant woman, @alexandra_zk_, commented, "I'm seven months pregnant, and this video is NOT HELPING. I am not okay." @sofiyacostales posed an interesting question by asking, "Does dog poop count as practice poop?" On a more serious note, @kwondr92 raised a genuine concern for those considering family planning, stating, "More importantly, are you okay with having limited financial freedom and spending your free time raising a child?" @andrewrudick had a rather sarcastic comment about getting a vasectomy as he wrote, "This is very informative and confirms my decision to get a vasectomy."
