We all have some prized possessions that we hold dear — while they might not look like much to anyone else, they become part of the rhythm of everyday life. And when they’re lost or broken, it feels more personal than it should. Reddit user u/stephscheersandjeers had one of those things: a pumpkin-shaped Dunkin’ mug she won in a fall giveaway back in 2023. So, when she shared what happened to her favorite mug, people on the internet stepped up. She shared the story on Reddit in a post titled, "The internet replaced my special cup."

She continued, "Hi! I am a neurodivergent individual whom the internet rallied behind last week and helped me. Long story short, my favorite cup got broken. Only 1,500 were made and I was devastated." She explained that she had originally posted about the cup in a Dunkin' fan Facebook group. That post, which she shared a screenshot of, included photos of the mug — first whole, then shattered. "It’s legitimately the perfect cup, and it shattered tonight," she wrote. She provided more context in the comments, writing, "I won this cup back in 2023, I’ve used it religiously until it broke last week. I even bought a replacement pumpkin cup, and it just 'wasn’t the same.' She added, "I even tried to email Dunkins to see if they had any back stock, but got a generic thanks for contacting us email."

She also shared what happened when she turned to Reddit, writing, "Someone watching the subreddit listed the cup on eBay for $1500 and inboxed me and told me I’d buy it if I truly wanted the cup." But one lady read her post on her Facebook group and sent a new one her way — for free. She wrote in the post, "The internet really rallied behind me and I am so grateful," going on to explain that the lady only accepted the cost of shipping from her. The post resonated with a lot of users, and they filled in the comments praising the kindness of the lady.

u/must_be_me7 wrote, "I think we could all use some good wholesome news lately, thank you for sharing this! That is an awesome mug!!" u/bumblebee3230 commented, "Dang I wish I was as lucky! I broke a parrot mug and cannot find a duplicate." u/Prematurid pointed out, "That would have been the perfect marketing angle for Dunkin. It was a freebie, and they just decided to pass on it. Such a wasted opportunity. Happy you got your cup back!"

Some expressed mutual admiration for things they love. u/Boredum_Allergy said, "I get that. I have a favorite beer glass because it has this defect at the top and I dunno why but I love that little bit of uniqueness. Glad you got your fav cup back." u/That_Kiwi_Girl added, "I’m a mug person and completely understand this. I am so happy that the internet rallied, and you have a new copy of your special mug!!!" u/vonkraush1010 suggested, "You should keep the broken cup and see about someone reconstructing it via kintsugi or some other method, if that works for you, so you have an additional back up. Wonderful story."
