The Burtka-Harris clan's Halloween outfits are a masterclass in executing a theme to perfection and they've only gotten better with time.
Ever since Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burkta welcomed twins Harper and Gideon into their lives in 2010, the family of four has embraced Halloween as their time to shine. Delivering impeccable ensemble costumes every October, the family has time and again proved that they understand the assignment better than most others. However, their solid reputation for winning the popular festival wasn't built just by wearing matching outfits. The Burtka-Harris clan's Halloween outfits are a masterclass in executing a chosen theme to perfection and they've only gotten better with time.
Harris briefly addressed his family's Halloween dominance during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2016 when Meyers opened the conversation by saying: "It seems to me that you take Halloween very seriously." "You don't?" Harris replied, incredulously before revealing that Harper and Gideon — who were about 6 years old at the time — were a huge part of the decision-making process behind picking the costumes.
Here's a look at every costume the family has worn over the years:
The family debuted their group costume magic with "Peter Pan"-inspired outfits just after the twins turned one. While Burtka and Harris dressed up as Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Harper and Gideon made for an adorable Tinker Bell and Mr. Smee.

The clan paid homage to "The Wizard of Oz" the following year. Harper was a rosy-cheeked Dorothy while the boys dressed as her sidekicks: the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.
The family delivered two incredible looks in 2013, kicking off the season by attending the Halloween carnival at the twins' preschool in "Alice in Wonderland" costumes.

Their second look was all about Halloween classics that year as Burtka picked out a monster mash-up ensemble with Harris as Frankenstein, Gideon as a werewolf, Harper a fierce Bride of Frankenstein, and Burtka rocking the Dracula get-up.
The Burtka-Harris family took a trip to Gotham City for their 2014 Halloween looks. While the dads embraced the dark path as the Riddler and the Joker, the twins donned Batman and Batgirl costumes to put a stop to any evil shenanigans they might've cooked up.
2015 was all about celebrating their shared love for the "Star Wars" franchise. The real-life twins channeled movie siblings Leia and Luke, while Burtka and Harris went as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo. They also brought Yoda along for the family picture.
The family took on Hollywood icons Marilyn Monroe, Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, and James Dean the following year and unsurprisingly, looked every bit adorable.
They took things up a notch in 2017 with a look Harris dubbed "The Burtka-Harris Halloween Carnival of Curiosities." In an ode to the TV show "American Horror Story: Freak Show," they dressed up as a creepy clown, deranged master of ceremonies, strong man, and a bearded lady.
"Welcome, foolish mortals. We hope your Halloween is happily haunted, but heed this warning: beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts," Burtka captioned a post showcasing their 2018 look inspired by the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. Harper dressed as the classic ghost bride, complete with an ax, while her dads and brother made a convincing trio of hitchhiking ghosts.
The family dressed as real-life icons in 2019 with Harris channeling as Vincent van Gogh and Burtka transforming into Salvador Dali. Meanwhile, the twins made for an adorable Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol.
"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was the family's theme for 2020. Gideon and Harper dressed as golden ticket winners Charlie Bucket and Veruca Salt while Harris dressed as sneaky candy maker Slugworth and Burtka played the titular character.
This year, the Burtka-Harris clan decked out as infamous movie killers and spooky characters from horror classics of the likes of "The Exorcist" and "The Shining." "Frights, Camera, Action! This Halloween, may all your screams come true..." Harris captioned his Instagram post.
