A woman's neighbors complained to her husband that she was making them uncomfortable by wearing a bikini while swimming in her pool.
When moving into a permanent home, most people hope for understanding and supportive neighbors. Unfortunately, even the smallest things can sometimes spark conflict. For one pregnant woman, her choice of swimwear while using her own backyard pool became a surprising source of tension with her neighbors. u/Pregnantpoolta shared her story on Reddit, explaining how her "above-ground pool" has led to an unexpected clash over her attire.
The pool is raised above ground and stands level with the fence, giving the neighbors an unobstructed view of the area from their homes. "In short, it's not very private," the post read. "I'm eight months pregnant and getting pretty uncomfortable. Being in the water helps enormously, so I like to spend a good chunk of time most evenings just floating in my pool. I wear a bikini to do this because it's about a million times easier than fighting with a one-piece."
The neighbors end up getting an unobstructed view of her "large, pale and stretchmark-covered belly" whenever they look in the direction of the woman's backyard. But things took a different turn when a neighbor confronted the woman's husband about it. "The other day, my neighbor stopped my husband when he was on his way out to ask if I could cover up more in the pool. Apparently, they're avoiding using their deck because seeing so much of my body is uncomfortable for them," the woman revealed.
She added that her husband laughed in the neighbor's face and dismissed their complaints as a joke. As a result, the woman has been receiving dirty stares from her neighbors whenever they pass by. She wondered if she was in the wrong for wearing a bikini and exposing her "pasty pregnant body" at the poolside. The Reddit community quickly defended her, assuring the pregnant woman that she wasn't doing anything indecent. Some even suggested that if the neighbors were bothered by the view, they could invest in building a taller fence on their property.
u/CoolWeakness2025 joked, "Have you thought about water birth? Specifically in your pool? That would certainly give them something to moan about." u/ummmno_ shared, "I got stuck, naked, in a public restroom at seven months pregnant trying to get into a one piece. I was so exhausted by the adventure I almost passed out. I may be a pale whale at 8.5 months but you bet this whale is rocking a tie bikini. On my property though? If I didn’t face a golf course my neighbors would be lucky I had clothes on at all."
u/AryaStark1313 commented, "I would laugh at those neighbors. I made a very private backyard so I can sunbathe topless by the pool and nobody can see me. That is until my backyard neighbors got a trampoline for their kids! They wanted me to stop because what if the little kids saw me? Oh, the horror! They threatened to call the cops. I said go right ahead. Never heard from them again and they eventually moved (I guess because I was corrupting their babies)." u/DesertSong-LaLa added, "Continue to float and use your pool at any time. Their request is ridiculous and it conveys shaming. You are beautiful and about to deliver the life you and your husband have been waiting to meet. The world does not revolve around their wants."
