Russell Westbrook led his team to a thumping win and took the moment to congratulate Rahshaun Haylock on his achievement.
Celebrity worship is at its zenith right now, as evident by the constant social media stalking done by today's generation. There are times when these people are not worth all the adoration. But every now and then comes along a few celebrities that are worth putting on a pedestal and Russell Westbrook is certainly one of them. Russell Westbrook's fans had this wholesome realization recently after the game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets. With a thumping win of this sort, the celebrated sportsman was in the highest of spirits, but even amidst so much happiness, he did not forget to celebrate the team reporter who recently earned a promotion. The gesture touched everyone's hearts in the stadium as they roared to applaud Westbrook. The entire interview was uploaded to the LA Clippers' official YouTube channel.
The reporter in question is Rahshaun Haylock. As per his LinkedIn profile, Haylock is presently working as the play-by-play announcer of the Los Angeles Sparks and Sports Reporter at KTLA. Due to his regular media interactions, Westbrook knew Haylock. Recently, the latter earned a promotion and became a sideline reporter in the NBA. As he went to ask Westbrook about the match, the player instead took the moment to congratulate him on his achievement. "First of all, congratulations to you, bro. First night tonight!" the basketball star said. "Give a round of applause to my boy. Man's been on it for a long time."
Haylock clearly did not expect this, as evident from his expression. He was touched by the gesture and responded with gratitude, "Appreciate it, brother." The conversation then shifted towards the exciting game they had just witnessed. Talking about the team's comeback, Westbrook called it God's doing: "We came out, competed all night long, we never gave up. The fans are great tonight. Shoutout to you guys. You guys are amazing." He also appreciated his team for getting through a hard game to victory. The player added that he "feeds off the energy of fans" when asked how he was able to bring the spark coming off the bench. This is Westbrook's first season with the team having previously played with the Lakers.
The comment section was brimming with excitement. @RicoFalculan-cl3uj was in awe of the gesture "Love the way Russ greets the reporter on his first night on his job." @JONIJOHNSON28 appreciated Westbrook as a player and wrote, "Man, I love Russ. Such a great teammate, with a great attitude and the way he has sacrificed both money and coming off the bench. The chemistry with this group is dope. It feels like our year! Something feels different this time. Let's go, Clipps. Gosh, I wish I was at that game. That was a great game, from what I could see. Can't wait until we are in our arena!"
The crowd was already excited after witnessing an incredible comeback from their team against the Brooklyn Nets. For the first three quarters, the Brooklyn Nets demolished the Clippers with their excellent performance, as per the LA Times. The Clippers entered the fourth quarter with a 15-point deficit. During the timeout, the team gathered a lineup containing Norman Powell, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Russell Westbrook to pull off a miracle and they did not disappoint. The setup went on a 22-0 closing run, never allowing the Nets to score even once. Throughout the season, the team has been registering huge wins, increasing fans' beliefs and hopes regarding the coveted title.
