The reporter in question is Rahshaun Haylock. As per his LinkedIn profile, Haylock is presently working as the play-by-play announcer of the Los Angeles Sparks and Sports Reporter at KTLA. Due to his regular media interactions, Westbrook knew Haylock. Recently, the latter earned a promotion and became a sideline reporter in the NBA. As he went to ask Westbrook about the match, the player instead took the moment to congratulate him on his achievement. "First of all, congratulations to you, bro. First night tonight!" the basketball star said. "Give a round of applause to my boy. Man's been on it for a long time."

Haylock clearly did not expect this, as evident from his expression. He was touched by the gesture and responded with gratitude, "Appreciate it, brother." The conversation then shifted towards the exciting game they had just witnessed. Talking about the team's comeback, Westbrook called it God's doing: "We came out, competed all night long, we never gave up. The fans are great tonight. Shoutout to you guys. You guys are amazing." He also appreciated his team for getting through a hard game to victory. The player added that he "feeds off the energy of fans" when asked how he was able to bring the spark coming off the bench. Such a great teammate, with a great attitude and the way he has sacrificed both money and coming off the bench. The chemistry with this group is dope. It feels like our year! Something feels different this time. Let's go, Clipps. Gosh, I wish I was at that game. That was a great game, from what I could see. Can't wait until we are in our arena!"
