Rude customer berated waitress over mistaken order, unaware Shaq was seated behind him. The 7-feet NBA star uttered one line that shut him up

Shaquille O'Neal performed this kind gesture for a young waitress, just because he wanted to be remembered as a nice guy.

Sometimes people forget that other people are human too. In the rush of daily life, it's easy to treat a stranger as an inconvenience rather than a person. This was reality for a young waitress serving at a restaurant. She was mistreated by a customer over a minor mistake in his order. He though he'd get away with this rude behaviour, but too bad for him, a 7-foot-1 NBA legend and Hall of Famer, Shaquille O'Neal, was sat just behind him. What he said to him next was enough to shut him up, as 'The Diesel' narrated the entire incident the following day on the Straight Game Podcast, amassing over 70,000 views.

Shaq bullied the bully

The former Los Angeles Lakers icon was enjoying his meal at a Beverly Hills restaurant when he noticed this exchange. He heard the rude customer shout at the young waitress, leaving her in tears in the middle of the restaurant. Shaq knew he had to intervene. The 7-foot star stood up and walked over to that table. There, he simply told him one thing, "Hey, man. If you talk to a girl like that again, I'm going to punch you in your f***ing face." The rude customer immediately piped down.

Shaq didn't stop there

Although he dealt with the man, Shaq couldn't just leave this young woman in tears. So, he asked her if she needed anything and how much tip she wanted from him. But the girl was so stressed that she couldn't stop crying and refused a tip. However. But being a complete gentleman, Shaq left her a more than generous $1,000 tip

Servers have to deal with the worst

As it turns out, employees in the hospitality industry have been treated like this for the longest. In fact, about 88% employees have faced verbal abuse similar to this waitress in just this past year or so. As if this isn't concerning enough, another 11% employees have faced online abuse within this time frame. Additionally, as bizarre and terrible as it sounds, another 10% of these employees have been spat on by a customer. What's concerning is that more than half, or about 59%, have been abused by the same customer more than once, as per SDA. So, it was truly praiseworthy of Shaq to take a stand against such behavior
