The job of a nanny is quite complicated because they have to deal with the adorable and not-so-adorable parts of babysitting. However, the best part has to be hanging out with these kids and engaging with them. Janna–who goes by @shortnfeisty11 on TikTok–shared her experience as a nanny and revealed that she was faced with a tricky question from the boy she was babysitting. In her video, she explained how it was a question she dreaded and that she came up with the smoothest and top-notch response that closed the case. “So the day I hoped would never come has arrived. The kid that I nanny asked me what I do for work today,” Janna mentioned.

The boy found a rather sneaky way to ask the nanny about the same. “He was like, ‘Jenna, you’re an adult and mommy’s an adult and daddy’s an adult, and mommy and daddy go to work. So, when do you go to work?’” she recalled. The nanny knew what she could have said but refused to say the same, as the kid would have misunderstood it. So, Janna came up with a creative response on the spot. “On the weekends,” she confidently told the kid. The boy, in return, bought the reply and said, “Oh, that makes sense.” Janna’s swift and shrewdly adorable response closed the topic, clearing his doubts without making the kid sad.

Janna explained why she refused to reveal her job as his nanny. She said that the kid always addressed her as his best friend and knowing that hanging out with him was a financial obligation would shatter the boy. “I do not have the heart to tell him that I get paid to hang out with him,” Janna remarked. In her caption, she added, “I love him so much I refuse to break his little heart like that.” People applauded her response, considering the reason behind the same. However, some believed she could have come clean and professionally explained to the boy. @savylaw said, “It’s cute, but is it really bad to teach kids that caretaking is labor worthy of pay?” Others shared alternative responses that were also creative.

She thought I paid to hang out with her.” Some people shared that revealing the same to the kids they babysit didn’t go well. @cavieisclosed remarked, “The 3-year-old I babysit looked me square in the eyes and told me it was time for me to get a job.” @lindseymcarpentar said, “The day I revealed to the kids that I was paid to hang out with them, they cried until I explained that I tricked their parents into paying me to hang out with my best friends instead of having a boring job.”
