Being surrounded by family and friends on your wedding day is important for everyone. However, when it comes to the proposal and getting engaged, many couples plan it as a surprise for their better half with little to no audience from their families. But this woman was lucky enough to have some special people by her side when she got engaged to her fiance. Cara Giles–who goes by @gilescara on TikTok–shared a short but sweet video of how her dad surprised her on the day she got engaged.

The 21-second-long video captured Giles on a pier, sharing a romantic moment with her fiance when she got distracted by someone approaching the couple. It did not take long for Giles to figure out that the person approaching them was none other than her dad. She quickly ran up to him and they exchanged a warm hug. A woman could be heard screaming and cheering from behind the camera. "Good job, Carson," the woman shouted. The text overlay on the video gave a bit more context to the story. "The moment after my engagement, I realized my dad drove eight hours to be there," Giles wrote. The video received over six million views since it was posted and garnered wholesome comments from the community.

@jazlynvela27 shared, "I got engaged at 17 and I genuinely thought it was a prank until my dad and I locked eyes. Then I lost it. I miss him so much and I look at my engagement video a lot because he was the first and last." @danniiee21 commented, "When my fiancé proposed to me, he had a picture of my late father next to the 'marry me' sign. He said I know he can't physically be here, but I did still go to the cemetery and ask for his blessing." @missxxbeauty mentioned, "I love this!! I asked my husband when he proposed if he asked my dad, and he made me turn around and my pops were right behind me!"

@maria_staton added, "I remember thinking my dad wasn't at my engagement and my husband pointed behind me and he had been hiding and saw the entire thing." In a second video, Giles complied with commentators who asked her to post the pictures from her engagement. She shared pictures taken from a distance of the moment her fiance proposed to her and she was awestruck. After showing a couple of shots of her still reeling from the shock of getting proposed to, she threw in a clear picture of her dad hugging her. Giles added a family picture in the video as well. "This is Carson's whole family that we were on vacation with. It was truly the best night and the best experience ever. And I wouldn't change it for anything," Giles said, concluding her video.
