A mom gets her daughter ready for college by gathering important dorm items to make sure she’s prepared.
Moving out is an important milestone in life for a young woman and going far away for higher studies comes with its own set of preparations. This is the kind of moment when support from family and friends is essential, and a woman moving to LSU for studies had her mother to take care of everything. The growing pile of dorm room essentials in the duo's home is more than just a collection of random objects but it was Sandy DiTullio's (@shadiersandy) way of ensuring her daughter is ready for a major change in life. “Okay, so my daughter's pile continues to grow,” she says with a mix of pride and a bit of panic in a video posted on TikTok.
Every item in the pile is carefully chosen, each with a specific purpose, from air purifiers to laundry supplies. She’s not just getting her daughter ready for college, she’s making sure she’s prepared for anything coming her way. A pure pop hand steamer can be seen one of the newest additions to the pile since it's perfect for keeping clothes wrinkle-free. “If you guys didn't get one of these for your daughter who's going off to college, it's not too late. You gotta get one,” the mom says with excitement. It’s clear she’s not just looking out for her own daughter but also offering advice to other parents in the same boat.
The preparations continue with a first aid kit, something she put together following the suggestions in comments on a TikTok video she made the night before. “Let me just tell you, I read every single comment and went out today and got every single item that I was missing,” she says, showing her commitment. “Let me show you something else I put together today,” she adds further, pulling out her daughter’s laundry tote with a monogrammed laundry bag inside.
There’s also detergent, and while she knows Tide Pods are popular, she prefers to stick with what’s familiar. “Nothing beats this. I just think the liquid smells better, it cleans better. That’s what we use at home, so she's gonna use the same thing there,” she explains. The video also shows DiTullio packing shout spray for stains, bounce dryer sheets, and even pink miracle shoe cleaner wipes. “So, like, if her shoes get really dirty, she's got this,” she says, clearly pleased with her preparations.
The mom also thought of little things such as the Bounce wrinkle release spray, which she loves so much that she even travels with one. “This is just awesome,” she says, happy to have found something that works so well. But perhaps the most surprising addition is the Clorox bleach packs. “I have never seen these before,” she says, genuinely amazed. “These are Clorox bleach packs… Oh, my god, who knew? Y'all probably knew, but I did not know they make these.”
Viewers loved DiTullio's approach toward her daughter and chimed in to share their experiences and suggestions. "This is what nesting for a newborn turns into 18 years later! Taking notes for myself!" wrote @tntimes. "Those bleach packs are genius! I’ve never seen those before. Btw, you’re doing a great job. She is well-loved. So much thought into all of this," commented @birdsrbots. "My daughter is only 8 months old but this is exactly how I will prepare my girl for college," added @sandymmeadows.
