The mom started the video by saying that she has a PSA for all moms and showed what it is like when kids grow up.
Parenting is a beautiful experience, but sometimes things can get overwhelming and mothers may dread the summer vacations due to the chaos around the house when their kids are home. However, one mom shared a very different perspective on the whole situation, and it's quite enlightening. Corinne Ritz, also known as @mostdeliciouslife on TikTok, shared a video of what her house looks like after leaving her children alone for a while. She starts the video by saying, "A little PSA: they do grow up," while standing outside her front door. She then explains, "I just ran errands. I'm home now and let's see what's going on inside."
She walks into the house, which looks well-arranged and her dog is sitting on the couch. Ritz expresses relief saying, "Well... at least they're not fighting," and asks the dog "Where are the kids?" "In their rooms... again? Ignoring me and each other? It's quiet. You see? Summers used to be my least favorite and now I dread going back to school and having a schedule," the woman shares. In the caption, Ritz proceeds to write how she used to dread the summer not just because of the heat but because of the constant "whining, fighting, bickering, trying to entertain, keep busy, etc. It was exhausting."
Then she reveals how her situation completely changed once her children grew up and three of them moved out. She expresses how she feels about it, "Now when I come home, the only one who remotely cares is the dog. I used to have 6 little kids (5 of them boys) wreaking havoc and underfoot. Now, when my mom stops by, she steps in the door and always asks, 'Why is it so quiet?' Why? Because they all grew up! Three are full-grown adults and the 17-year-old is always at work or out with friends. The 14 and 12-year-olds are left. That is all." Ritz then explains, "If they are home, they are quiet. Most of the time. Seasons change and time passes." She ends her video by asking, "What season are you in now?"
Many people on the platform could relate to what Ritz shared, and @mandaridesunicorns commented, "Thank you for this. Mine is in elementary and I'm struggling with an entire month left still to go." @user9694009494840 wrote, "It's bittersweet for me! My house is so quiet and I can do whatever I want finally, but I sometimes miss the cartoons in the background, toys everywhere, and little voices." @mrsjhnsn admitted, "3, 4 and 4 month old and I can't breathe because they won't leave me alone…. But this just made me tear up because I can't imagine one day they will leave me alone."
@erin.s.campbell said, "I'm in the sweet spot of 2 grown children in their own homes, no grandchildren yet. I'm divorced and happily single, almost 50. I love my quiet life." @trilby86 wrote, "I'm still in the trashed house and water all over the floor stage, but the eldest is 13 and running off all the time…it's weird, but I can see us drifting into this next stage and it's bittersweet."
