It can be frustrating and overstimulating for a working mom to clean after the mess their kids make at home. Sometimes, gathering the scattered toys and piles of clothes can be mentally and physically taxing for them. However, one mom on the internet has a simple solution. Ally, a licensed therapist–who goes by @aesthetically_ally_on TikTok–regularly makes videos on hacks for moms, cleaning and organization. She recently came up with a video that has seemingly proved to be effective for her audience, who are often overwhelmed with cleaning duties with kids in their house.

“If you’re looking for a busy working mom hack to keep your head together during the day and during the week and not feel totally overwhelmed and overstimulated when you walk into your house, then keep listening,” Ally says as she begins her video. “I can’t stand having a dirty house or a messy house. For me, that is my overstimulation nightmare. Let me introduce you to the cleaning cart.” Ally then shows the cart she uses, a simple rolling cart with several compartments.

She takes the rolling cart through the house and gathers all the scattered objects from the places they are not supposed to be in. In the sped-up video, she cleans her way through the living room, dining room, kitchen counter and bedroom. When the cart is filled with random stuff like shoes, caps, paper bits, books, stationaries, electronics and toys, Ally wheels the cart against a wall and leaves it there. She has a client appointment in 17 minutes and the cleaning cart method shows how quickly she can manage to scoop up the objects from the messy house.

“The purpose of the cart is, obviously, we’re going to have to put those things away, but it is so much nicer to just not have those things cluttering all of the flat surfaces in your house,” she explains. “It helps so much with that overstimulated feeling that you get when you have to come in after a crazy busy day and have to start taking care of everybody and everything.” The simple hack managed to impress the moms on the internet who were previously struggling to keep their houses tidy and did not know how to do it like Ally. They shared their own experiences with cleaning after their kids in the house as well.

@jneetoll revealed, "I use a laundry basket, but I love that idea. I could divide up my son’s and my items! Thanks for the tip!" @ericadalpini wrote, "I’ve been doing something similar with bins. But I love the cart idea! I'm gonna try that." @raremommy commented, "Need a part two because this is an ADHD doom pile that would never get unpacked off the cart unless I did it myself later and I would not." @houseoftaylor mentioned, "Love this idea. Definitely resisting the urge to add an unnecessary task like labeling each tier." @katsbeenhereadded, "For me, it’s the dirty stove top, crumbs on every damn surface, crumbs under the chairs and can’t keep up with dishes, etc."
